Do women appreciate the female form more than the male form?

Very rarely if ever do you see a girl commenting on how cute a guy is on the internet, nor do you hear it often in person.

If I walk up to a dude on the street and tell him he looks awesome in his t-shirt, there's a not-small chance he's going to interpret that as a direct sexual come-on. Is he a bad person for it? Nope, I don't know him. But it's definitely the reason I don't compliment men irl or online with anything like the frequency I do women.

Conversely, I often compliment women, including strangers, on some aspect of their appearance, because there's not gonna be any sexual weirdness there and she's going to appreciate it (as I would from another woman). Women are chill in a way men aren't with compliments from women.

As for bfs, I am very verbal with how hot they are. They've pointed out than I'm more demonstrative about this than past gfs. They enjoy the compliment but they often get all embarrassed and eye-rolly. Which is fucking adorable.

Just a heads up, this doesn't actually mean we think they look pretty. We just tell our friends they look gorgeous to be nice probably 90% of the time.

I appreciate both equally, but considering how much more time and effort women generally put into their appearance, I notice myself complimenting women more often than men. Still, telling someone that you like their outfit or their hairstyle isn't really complimenting their appearance, it's complimenting their taste. Very different.

Also as an anecdote, every man I've dated has seemed very uncomfortable when I compliment their appearance. The last one even got annoyed when I did. Even with my own parents. My mom always talks about how bout my dad is, and i can tell he is uncomfortable. Because of this, I don't do it much. Suffice to say that if I'm sleeping with you, I find you attractive.

I feel more comfortable telling my female friends they look hot. When I was single, I felt nervous complimenting a man because I felt like it opened me up to rejection. He may think I was flirting with him and if he wasn't interested in me then be mean, weird, or cold. That wasn't actually what happened though so the fear wasn't a rational one. It was a me problem. I wasn't secure enough or brave enough.

Now when I complement my husband too much on his looks he starts disagreeing with me. No I'm not hot or no I'm not whatever you just said. So, I back off the compliments at that point in case they are triggering insecurity. And it wouldn't be appropriate for me to compliment another man's appearance now except to congratulate a weight loss or something like that.

Edited to add: And yes I find men very attractive. Sometimes stumble over my words level attractive.

Not my experience at all. Every woman I've been with for more than a week or two has offered genuine complements about my body. I'm not particularly good looking, either, and have been out of shape most of my adult life.

It seems to me that once a woman is sufficiently into a guy, his appearance becomes beautiful to her and she delights in it.

It's sort of like the inverse of what often happens to men: a woman's appearance will make a guy find things to like about a her personality.

edit: This applies to online etc too. Women often circlejerk about the beauty of famous men, but you don't see them seeking out hotties on /r/gonewild . They'd be all over it if the guys were socially proofed by fame, though.

I certainly had a girlfriend who was hugely attracted to women by her own admission, and I think she found women sexier than men, and preferred their bodies.

However, in a relationship she needed some masculinity, and she would never have dated a woman. I certainly ensured she was intimate with some, though, trust me!

For me personally, yes! I think most other women do too. I've read all over Reddit that looks are the #1 factor in attractiveness for women, hands down.

Much like your experience, most guys I dated didn't ever mention my appearance, making me think it was something else about me that they valued (things they did compliment, like my wit). In my current relationship, my bf says I tell him how good he's looking too often, and I weird him out sometimes by closely admiring his hair, face, body. It would seem I appreciate his "form" more than he does mine.

Elaine from Seinfeld said it best: Men's bodies are built for overall utility, while women's bodies are a thing of beauty (aside from the utility in pregnancy) for everyone.

on top of this, men actually selected for beauty in women, making women more aesthetically pleasing to both sexes.

Women very much enjoy seeing a man's body at work. Problem is that this is difficult to do in the modern age, especially in an office setting.

Women can take a compliment and keep it moving.

If I tell a guy he has a handsome face or nice body, he's going to be in my DMs five seconds later and maybe I didn't want that.

Maybe I was just making a casual reference on someone's beauty and not even thinking about sex.

If you want to turn me on, chop some wood shirtless or something.

Physical attractiveness is not the #1 factor in your worth and people aren't constantly commenting on your appearance and...you're upset about it? Women are way more likely to have eating disorders than men. The positive affirmation you see in nurturing communities of women is a protective measure. Try to enjoy the lack of scrutiny!

Also, yes straight women really do find men attractive.

Apex fallacy due to hypergamy and burden of performance, you need to be extremely attractive to get the same level of validation as an above average woman. You need to be model/celebrity tier to get the validation equivalent of a hot girl.
