While reading these threads and mulling over various topics, I keep wondering: How did we all come to this? What has society led us to?
I grew up in a time when they called it "women's liberation" or it might have been called "new feminism." They didn't call it "second-wave" feminism back in those days.
(I don't like using the Hegelian Dialectic, but at least in this case, it might make it simpler to illustrate what I'm getting at.)
If the "old order" can be defined as "patriarchy" as it was in the 1950s and earlier, then that would be the original "thesis" in the following model:
Thesis: Patriarchy
Antithesis: Second-Wave Feminism
The resulting synthesis between the two conflicting ideas might be what we see today in the form of so-called "Third Wave Feminism," which would then become the new "thesis" in society today.
So, would this mean that TRP, MRA, and other aspects of the "manosphere" be the antithesis of third-wave feminism?
I can't see that they would really be logically part of the original thesis of "Patriarchy," since most of the TRP/MRA principles evolved after feminism.
Most of them (and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) are younger guys in their teens, 20s, and 30s - they're not of the same generation of fuddy-duddies and male chauvinists from the 1950s and earlier. Those raised in the West would have been fully exposed to and initiated to the basics of the feminist doctrine, and they would have been raised and conditioned along those lines.
It was different for the older generations who were born and raised in more traditional times and were much older when things started to change in the 60s and 70s. But those who were born after never saw what it was like. All they've seen is the results and consequences of feminism and how things are today. At least, in my estimation, that's what they're reacting to.
Blue Pillers and feminists seem to look at TRP and react to them in much the same way they would react to an older "male chauvinist" from more traditional times. Yet this is where I think they miss the mark.
One thing I've also noticed in reading over these various forums is that a lot of TRPillers recount experiences with feminist indoctrination or a feminist upbringing - yet somehow realizing later on that they were fed a pack of lies. The recurring irony I keep noticing is that if feminists really lived up to their own ideals, then TRP wouldn't even exist at all.
tl;dr Are TRP/MRA the antithesis of third wave feminism, which has come about as a result of a synthesis of second wave feminism and traditional patriarchy?
