It's often said that a married man has no right to sex from his wife. He is not entitled to sex from his wife.

We're told that married people have a right to financial support from each other and are obligated by law to support each other. Yet, in practice, most of the time the husband supplies the bulk of the money and resources to a marriage. In the event of dissolution of the marriage, the man will usually at a minimum pay child support to the ex wife who will almost always be the custodial parent. Also, a man usually will not obtain support or alimony from an ex wife even if she outearns him. There is a societal taboo against women financially supporting men; doubly so with ex wives paying alimony to men.

For men today, marriage is a series of burdens and obligations. He is required to support his wife financially. He is also required to support his children. He's required to use his size and strength to provide heavy physical labor for the family. He's required to use his size and strength to protect the wife and children, through the use of brute physical force if necessary, and on pain of death if necessary.

He's told to give and give and give of himself, financially, monetarily, physically. HE is relentlessly told, over and over again, that he is entitled to NOTHING from anyone -- he's especially not entitled to anything from a wife.

Is a wife entitled to emotional availability from a husband? Is a wife entitled to "emotional intimacy" from a husband? Is she entitled to emotional support? Love? Companionship? Friendship? Help with parenting? Why should a man provide any of these things to a wife if he is not entitled to require anything from her?

Is a wife is expected to provide anything to a husband? What, if anything, is she required to give him?

Is a man entitled to expect anything from a wife? Is he entitled to anything from marriage?

Why should a man marry when marriage for him is all burdens and obligations, and no benefits?

EDIT: Is marriage now nothing more than an economic arrangement for the pooling of tangible resources for the beneficial use of the parties to the marriage?
