My last thread on lies by omission were more casual and I wanted others to fill in the blanks:

Here's a different and slightly more detailed and more serious set of scenarios.

Ok or Not Ok?

  1. I cheated on both of my ex-wives... but you know what? I'm a born again Christian and Jesus forgave me for those sins. What others think does not matter when compared to the forgiveness of Jesus. I don't bother mentioning these things on the first several dates, because those women don't need to know about these facts until later, when they've gotten to know me better. I may or may not reveal these things later when I feel like they've emotionally invested enough into me. So long as my dates don't ask, I'm not even lying to them. It's their responsibility to ask about these matters. It's not my fault that they're too shy/modest to ask.
  2. I am a man who has murdered someone in the past. However, I served time for my crime, and I deserve a chance to build a new life. To have any chance at all, I keep quiet and avoid this topic at all costs. I think I'm in the clear in terms of honesty, because no one explicitly asks me if I've ever murdered someone before. Besides, I trust that I'll never meet another dumb motherfucker in need of killing again, so that part of my history is irrelevant.
  3. I am an ex-prostitute woman. I have probably had sex with over 1000 different men. Prostitution was legalized in my home country, but very few people in my new country seem to know that. My new town, people seem a lot more conservative and traditional. In most social circles I belong to now, the avg person seems to save himself or herself for marriage. So it seems to be in my best interest not to talk too much about my past. Even my fiance whom I met a year ago doesn't know about my history. He says things and behaves in a way that makes it seem like he's assuming that I'm a virgin. I think it's fine though. It's not like I lied to him about it. He never asked. Plus, he's politically liberal... so I'm sure he's sex-positive. I'm sure he wasn't influenced by his local, backwards, dumb community or his dumb slut-shaming friends. Once he's known me long enough, I'm sure that part of my history would become trivial to him.
  4. I am a bi man who is currently dating around trying to find a potential wife. I want kids. I try not to mention that I've taken it in the butt in the past and liked it. I feel guilty about keeping such a thing secret when I know it matters to so many people in my community (even though I wish it didn't matter to them so much), but the town I'm is seriously homophobic. I am worried about the consequences of letting too many casual acquaintances know about this. A gay man had his house vandalized weekly and eventually forced to leave last year. I'd leave if I could, but I'm too poor for now, and there are genuine friends/family here that I don't want to leave. I wouldn't mind divulging this side of me after I've gotten to know and trust these women.

EDIT. One more:

  1. I am a skeptic, but currently dating this chick who completely believes in the supernatural, horoscopes, the magic of crystals, etc. I'm pretty sure the only reason she's dating me is because she misunderstood what I said when we first met and assumed we were born on the same day. Combined with the weird way in which we met, and apparently that's all it took for her to be wild about me. She's batshit... but pretty cute so I let her keep her misconceptions about me. This is unimportant to me anyway. Who actually believes in this crap?

I didn't lie to her. I didn't say anything. She made all these assumptions on her own, and is too lost in her own head to verify her facts. She could have asked for confirmations.

In any case, she seems happy enough in her delusions, so I'll let her keep believing we were born on the same day. I genuinely believe she would break up with me if she found out.
