1. NOT TROLLING: although I understand TRP tends to hate special-snowflakes, I would still want to understand why this seems to be especially strongly connected with the lack of masculinity, as opposed to other TRP type characteristics like non-egalitarianism.

  3. To clarify: I am a man, but not very masculine and we never understood each other. They liked locker-room banter, I was scared by it...

  4. Example 1: when you look at a group photo from an age where men were more masculine like 1925, why does everybody wear the same clothes and hair?

  5. Example 2. why do jobs that don't allow much individuality but more like following strict rules and strictly defined roles like soldier or police seem to fit masculine men? Or at least it was so in the past?

  6. Example 3. Why did the popular, sexually succesful high school jocks, although trying to be excellent but not trying to be very special or unique: their clothes, hair, sports, careers and all were not very unique or unusual, they rather tried to be excellent at a fairly usual thing like good at football and / or following their lawyer dad's career footsteps? They were working hard on excellence but still "conformists" not "rebels".

The opposite, why is that if I describe a high school guy as someone who always tries to be different and unique, listening to bands nobody listens to, wears blue hair or mohawk or weird clothing or accessory items, and has the airs of a narcissistic iconoclast "look at am I am special and different, they don't understand me because I am unwilling to be a good conformist sheep and fit into their system" - why is that you already know from the description that that guy is pretty much a "gamma" and virgin at 21? this meme

Hypotheses

  1. Because speciality unique different individuality is a shitty replacement of excellence by those who cannot achieve that. Or, in other words, you can show off your excellent better as a real excellence if it is in a common, usual, popular thing. You win more status by being excellent at football than by being excellent at some really exotic sport. High status implies, in a sense, comformity. Napoleon wore the same uniform as any random general. You get the most status for being very good at what most people like. Non-conforming is a sign of low status. In high school the "boring conformist jock who wants to be rich lawyer like his dad" was trying to win at the same game most people are playing, while the non-conformist "rebels" were essentially refusing to play it because they figured they suck at it.

  2. Masculine men are like a laser, focus on one narrow thing and achieve breakthrough there. It is useful for them if they can put like 95% of attention to one thing and let every other aspect of their life just run on automatic mode and thus strict social rules and roles are useful as they tell you how to behave. If you don't want to spend time about figuring out a haircut because you focus on more important goals, you tell your barber to do whatever people wear these days and focus on your important goals.

Let's stick to hair as an example. When a guy is like 18 he can choose to advertise (a somewhat narcissistic) rebelliousness like wear a blue hair or a mohawk and intepret this as a message to adults "fuck you I will not conform to your world and rules". Or he can choose whatever hair is popular and more or less fits his face. This also includes in the last decades the low-maintainance "no time for grooming" short cropped cuts. Why is that the second type of guy is usually far more masculine?
