Why don't women advocate flipping a fair coin or rolling a fair die to determine who pays on a date?

or u could just split the check its a date not a dnd game wtf

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

oh, but can it be? that sounds way more fun, even more fun than just splitting the bill.

[–]fiat_lux_Red Pillar4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sure.

Women get a +4 gender bonus on rolls to avoid paying for date.

-2 circumstantial penalty in gender egalitarian environments.

That should make things realistic.

What if someone got something expensive, and the other person got something cheap?

[–]buarthaDelights in homosexuality1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

I'm generally a fan of just paying for what you've ordered if you're only at the dating stage, and neither of the parties feel like splashing out, and then splitting the tip.

If they don't pay equal portions then it's not equal. Why do you hate equality?

[–]buarthaDelights in homosexuality0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Well, if we're going to do this truly equally, then we should make everyone eat half of each meal rather than having one each.

Now we've worked that out, should we split by weight or by calorie count?

[–]drok007Not white enough to be blue pill1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

What if one person needs significantly more calories to maintain a healthy diet? Why should that person be punished for having a higher metabolism or larger size? Isn't it more ethical to subsidize their eating so they don't go broke trying to stay healthy while eating on dates?

[–]buarthaDelights in homosexuality3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The answer is obvious. All restaurants should be buffets, and they should all be free.

Sorted. Who said PPD was never productive?

I concur, most productive thread yet.

I always bought something inexpensive just in case they insisted on paying, but brought enough money to at least cover my portion of the bill. I'm not sure why it needs to be any more complicated than that. Any more concern for it than that is bordering on neurotic.

Of course you would assign the man as the head in this coin situation.

[–]pyr6661 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

not necessarily equal. in all probability, someone would end up paying more often because dates aren't common enough to invoke the law of large numbers.

Dinner dates are boring. Date better and be creative.

[–]AFormidableContenderPurple Pill Man0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That wasn't the premise of his question. Pay attention and answer on topic.

I did by saying dont waste your time but in general yes that would be more fair.

[–]LeaneGenovaBreaker of (comment) Chains0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That just seems needlessly ridiculous. And potentially hazardous in the dining room - some poor server is going to get smacked in the face by a coin.

Make sure you have enough to cover your own meal, but be gracious if the other person wants to pay.

[–]BakerofpieRed Pill Woman0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Because that's fucking weird, that's why. Go with the intention of paying for yourself and if the other party insists on picking up the check be gracious about it. That's the general rule of thumb myself and every single woman I've spoken to on the subject. There are plenty of gripes to have with feminism, but I don't think insisting on having their meals paid for on a date is one of them.

I end up agreeing with you quite often!

Also on the list is not ordering the most expensive thing on the menu (even if you're paying!) because you end up looking high maintenance or like you might be trying to take advantage of your date.

Do you mean feminism insisting on the man paying or not paying your wording was ambiguous. Most feminist i have heard don't like the idea of the man having to pay. though i have seen an odd couple who feel its a man obligation to pay for a woman. butt here feminist so bat shit insanity is to be expected.

[–]BakerofpieRed Pill Woman0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Feminism does not insist on the man paying. I guess I have heard women saying the man should pay, but they were all in their mid-40s or older. In my experience that expectation is not the standard anymore. Until now I always made more money than anyone I ever dated save for one, so if I wanted to go somewhere expensive I paid for both of us since I had the money for it and they didn't. And I'm not a feminist. Feminism or not that trend is dying out, and I've never heard of any feminist trying to bring it back. This is a tired complaint. Dude doesn't wanna pay, then don't pay. Unless I live in the Twilight Zone full of strange women it's not even frowned upon.

You maybe in the twilight zone though as a straight guy i am not really privy to all the girl talk session about such things. i think it depends on the clique you hang out with. And to be fair for guys it more head because some women will want you to pay some will want to split the check and some will want to pay (either for GIRL POWER or FUCK YOU YOU'RE TERRIBLE DATE).

[–]BakerofpieRed Pill Woman0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My town seems to have a lot of feminists, and it seems like they are the most likely to want to split the check instead of having the guy pay, but often I hear the argument that they do this so the guy doesn't "expect anything" in return for a free meal. Have you ever tried to split the check and have a girl get mad? That's just so weird to me. I've had guys get upset that I tried to pay my half, but I couldn't imagine going on a date and the other party not being prepared to pay for themselves so I'm stuck with the bill. That is such an entitled attitude and really skeeves me out.

[–]wazzup987Blue pill, you can beat me black & blue for it later[🍰] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Me to but it like walking through a mine field as a guy you never know how to act and you really can't ask, and there are plenty of feminist that don't mind that bit of sexism. Yeah i have had couple chicks get mad. Needless to say i walked. IT is really entitled.
