This "purge" isn't any different from a typical week in this shitshow of a sub, because most of the mods here are either completely absent or intermittently active at best. I think this sub deserves better moderation. The current moderators of PPD should recognize that and increase the number of mods this sub has based on user nominations.

Moderators should commit to actual moderation, if they aren't going to be moderating this sub on a consistent basis then they should step down as they're unable to fulfill their role as a mod. I'm not saying that mods need to live here, but this sub deserves consistent, daily moderation that's active and moderates following clearly defined rules.

I recognize that this sub is small, but it's highly divided and prone to trolling and circlejerking. The sidebar's rules are ineffectual and the downvote/brigading rules are unenforceable and redundant as they violate reddiquette. What this sub needs is a small list of simple, clearly outlined, easily followed and consistently enforced rules that foster debate and discussion. The rules don't matter if there aren't enough mods active enough to enforce them. There seems to be ONE consistently active mod here, /u/CFRProflcopter. The rest of the moderator team is intermittently active at best and some of the mods are completely absent.

I propose that in addition to electing new mods, we overhaul the rules and lift the ban list. If there are new rules, people who were banned under old rules and old moderatorship should be allowed to participate using new rules and fresh, popularly elected mods. This sub isn't taken seriously by the vast majority of TRP or TBP, especially the regulars on both sides, and in its current state it doesn't deserve to be. There's a reason there's only a fraction of the subscribers here that there are to the other subs. I think this sub could be so much better, and I hope you'll agree with me.

Before anyone assumes I think I'm right for the job, I don't. I recognize that I'm not active enough to be a mod here and wouldn't accept even if I were nominated. I do have a few people in mind though. I'll be happy to nominate them if other people decide this is a good idea!
