Noting wrong with trying to gold dig so long as you don't get upset when the guy you're attempting to dig it from leaves you penniless by the curb.

IF it's a business transaction then it's a business transaction. If you want to bring emotion into it then you're probably better off keeping money out of it. Believe me, guys that have the kind of cash Sterling has doesn't give a shit which 20 yr old model is on his arm, you're not important you're just another line on his P&L sheet.

I've always been a "two consenting adults makes it ok" kind of person. If both know what's going on, both accept it, then it's their business. As for my personal feelings, it can be summed up by this quote I came across early on in TRP:

Your dating strategy affects your results. If all you have to attract women with is money, don't be surprised if all you end up with are gold-diggers.

It's funny to me that she's considered a gold digger when things he bought her were very low priced compared to his net worth. On a conservative estimate he makes 2 millions very easily with 1 billion dollars, almost like breathing. It would be no different than a regular guy taking a girl out to ice cream. Some how she's considered a gold digger? Even when her gifts are comparatively small.

I don't understand.

Isn't that the whole point of gold digging? For the woman find a guy for whom a small fortune is barely noticeable, but still be a considerable amount for the gold digger?

If both parties are aware of what's going on then I don't see a problem with "gold-digging". It's essentially long-term prostitution at that point.

The TRP philosophy encourages gold-digging. If you don't want a woman to work while in a marriage, what safety net does she have to rely on, other than your money? Gold-digging is another word for women supporting themselves in a "traditional" society.

Honestly I've never gotten this. The ideal relationship set up by the tenets of TRP and RPW IS gold-digging. So how can you complain about it at the same time?

As much as I dislike it, I understand its in every woman's nature to be a golddigger. Is it wrong? I guess so. But AWALT so I can't do much about it.

I agree that mutual using is fine between consenting adults. I think both parties are fully aware of what they're doing and that's fine.

I think the question of who is getting hurt comes into play only if there are children involved. Not even sure what opinion I have on it, but I have some personal experience with it. Never been near Sterling's level, but I grew up in a nicer off community and went to school with the kids of 2nd or sometimes 3rd wives. I knew a kid whose mom was 30 years younger than his dad and his dad was literally dying of old age while the kid was in high school. Girls I knew had dads who would bring escorts home or a series of gold-digging girlfriends and the daughters were really upset by it. Are those things fair?

A couple months ago, a family friend got married. The guy is 64. The woman is 27. I know one of his sons from a previous girlfriend and the kid is pissed beyond belief about it. I didn't want to ask in-depth about it, but I get the feeling it's really messing him up.

I can't speak for them, and I don't know what it feels like, but a lot of kids I've met whose parents were involved in that kind of arrangement were unhappy about it. Whether that's because of the relationships themselves or other factors, idk. I just think that aspect raises questions.

Even if 2 million isn't a lot to this Donald fellow, it's a lot to most people. Though she may or may not have had feelings for him, it's easy for people to assume that a young girl with a rich old man is just with him for his money, regardless of the truth.

Personally, if it works for both parties, I don't see anything wrong with money being a part of a relationship. Wouldn't be for me, I don't think, I prefer love and all that hocus pocus, but different strokes for different folks. And I guess, if I was in a relationship with huge financial polarisation, I'd expect SOME cash flow in the form of gifts and paying for trips out. Currently I probably pay for more than my girlfriend does because I have more money.

I have been subscribed to this sub for a while and am not too versed on what the subscribers here stand for. But I have an opinion on this and would like to state it, sorry if it does not classify me as a bonafide member.

My opinion is that all relationships are similar to a business deal. In any relationship you exchange something for something. In a romantic relationship, exchanges occur on a daily basis. You exchange love, warmth, understanding, whatever, but something is being exchanged for something.

Now, having said that, it is my opinion that what one chooses to exchange in any relationship is something of their own choosing and the object or item being exchanged really does not change the dynamic of said relationship. It's still a relationship.

When you make an attempt to classify relationships, you are actually hurting the scheme of the relationship itself in that you remove legitimacy from factual relationships that work, regardless of your opinion.

Regardless of whether or not it was relatively a small sum for him, it's exceedingly more than what she could afford on her own.

That said, Sterling is racist.

But his comments seemed to stem from an insecurity of not being enough for this extremely attractive 32 year old woman who happens to be taking pictures with black men who look like MATT KEMP.

Not sure what Sterling thought. He's 80+ and not that attractive... all of the money in the world can't force genuine attraction. (Not saying real attraction it can't happen... but it's rare... most of these cases... they're using each other.)

Additionally, she isn't his wife. He has one already who he blatantly humiliates by prancing this chick around 24/7.

You can't expect a "side person" to be loyal. They don't owe fidelity because they will never get it in return... hence they're a mistress/kept man.

Back to the question...

Is gold-digging wrong?

You attract what you put out. If you entice someone with expensive gifts and trips instead of compelling convos, or a good face, or a sexy sense of style , or similar sense of humor... then you're going to get someone who only likes you for expensive gifts and trips you offer.

I think both parties understand the deal. The person dishing out the gifts knows that once the gifts stop or if the other person actually falls in love with someone they actually like, the relationship is over.

The person receiving the gifts plays "trophy partner."

No one is fooled by these arrangements.

Contrary to popular opinion, I kind of think Stiviano is the one who looks bad. She entered this transaction/relationship with Sterling herself. I personally don't judge people who enter these types of relationships as long as both parties are aware of the terms ahead of time. If she entered the relationship with him for financial reasons, and he for her good looks, then those are the terms defined.

I think by publicly leaking their audio conversation and essentially "biting the hand that feeds her" puts her in the wrong--even if Sterling had prejudiced views. It may be immature to see it as " who started it first", but I think she is in the wrong for instigating the conflict publicly in the first place. Although my guess is that Sterling said those things out of insecurity--something I think anyone could be driven to do. In my experience, many of those around me and myself have had horrible thoughts that were wrong in the heat of the moment. I also have a feeling she set him up;the conversation sounded a lot like her egging him on to say something bad.
