There are studies that prove this.
Women were asked to rank men based on their PHYSICAL appearance from some photos. When women were shown the photos with bios attached indicating high-paying jobs, money, and status, all of a sudden women rated the men more PHYSICALLY attractive on average.

I don't think its as simple as that. Women are financially independent, yes, but they still choose social/artistic career paths and motherhood over well paid jobs while still wanting to indulge in the life-style of the rich. That's why most CEOs are male, an hyper competitive environment where you have most women dropping out to have a baby or had never competed because they wanted to be nurses/artists/etc.
Also most models and actresses, IE the best looking women, are only good financially until they hit the wall. So they are still operating on the parasite paradigm.
So yeah, they are independent but they don't like to put the work it requires to be thriving financially yet its the lifestyle they want so they still get it from rich men. In conclusion, wealth is still attractive.
