tl;dr Don't focus on the end result, focus on the steps it takes to get there. If you spend time focusing on how you are going to fuck a girl instead of how you are going to approach you aren't going to get there.

Shortlist of self-improvement:

  • Learn to play a musical instrument
  • Lift
  • Learn a martial art
  • Learn a marketable skill
  • Eat right
  • If single get better at game
  • If married get better at marriage

All of those skills have something in common. If you go focusing on the end game rather than the journey you will fail. If you pick up a violin and expect to be Lindsay Sterling in a month you will fail. If you expect to go to the gym and squat double your weight in a month, you will fail. If you expect to be able to whoop anyone's ass after a month of martial arts training, you will fail. I think you can see the pattern here. Self improvement does not happen in leaps and bounds, it happens so slowly that you often won't notice it. If you sit down each day and you expect to get just 5 seconds further in a song that you are trying to play, you will succeed. If you try to just lift 5 more pounds than you lifted last time, you will succeed.

Self improvement does not come in leaps and bounds, talent is a myth. There are some people that pick things up a little quicker, but nobody is just born with the ability to belt out bach. It takes focused practice. If you focus on just little improvements each time you do an activity you will find that you can almost always win. By the time you find it difficult to make smaller improvements you will be so far on the journey that you can see your destination. Motivation comes from a place of believing that you can succeed followed by successes. You can succeed each and every day if you set the RIGHT goals. Focus on what is in front of you. Don't dream about a 4 plate squat. Go to the gym and do a 1 plate squat and then just make sure you're adding 5 pounds every time you go. After a month you won't even think about it anymore, you'll just show up knowing you are going to get there eventually. This applies to any part of real self-improvement.

As TRP is a forum of sexual strategy the same can be applied to game. Avoiding paralysis and just focusing on one step at a time can go a long way. Master the approach, then master kino, etc. Only focus on the part you are trying to improve. When you focus on small goals there is far more success than failure, and when that happens you will shed your fear of failure.

The Takeaway: No matter your self improvement goal, always focus on a small improvement that day, never focus on the end game.
