This is my opinion but it's because it's true happiness.

We think logically and can understand what makes us truly happy for a long period of time.

On the other hand women think emotionally and can see what can make them happy in the present moment.

I would say because we are more goal-oriented. Most men set out to get something out of life; when we get that thing, that is where our satisfaction comes from.

For myself, my only goal is to live by God's Word, so barring this I don't need much to be satisfied.

I think because the pleasure of men is more cerebral, we are philosophers, thinkers, rationalists. It's our pleasure to build and discover in our minds and then to transfer that if we so decide into outward manifestation. To build our knowledge, our bodies, our wisdom, and our spirit. The empire a man makes is of himself.

Women I think are more outward. They are more extroverted, they network. Their identity is much more dependant on their friends, their group. They seek emotional adventure from the material and human environment around them.

Just by their nature women want pomp and show and support and involvement. By our nature we men want to conquer and build mostly ourselves.

It's pretty straight-forward from an evolutionary psychology standpoint. Whatever they may consciously say that they want, female evo psyche has been selected for deriving resources from a high status partner and having children. Children take resources to bear and to raise. The women who have pursued men with resources have had their children survive and reproduce at a differentially higher rate. What they say means nothing; it's what they do that counts, and what they do is to seek resources. Hence hypergamy. Hence monkey-branching. Women are always looking for more resources, because that is the female's successful reproduction strategy.

Because of female resource-seeking (i.e., because of hypergamy) women can't be happy, that is to say, they cannot be content with what they have. They are really unhappy when they have less then others around them, but even when they are among the most successful individuals in any given community, they are still discontent because they have been programmed by evolution to always look for more. That is the successful strategy. Evolution doesn't give a shit about women's perpetual unhappiness; all it cares about is differential survival and reproduction.

A man's most successful reproduction strategy is to impregnate as many young, fertile females as he can, and preferably not stick around to spend his time on any one child. Therefore it serves a man well to travel light, fuck when he can, and move on without leaving a trace. That way his genetic material is differentially represented in the subsequent generation. Just as with women, it doesn't matter what men say. Watch what they do. What people say is their conscious mind speaking; what they do is their unconscious mind acting. And men who are out adventuring in the world are attractive to women; they are interesting, exciting, and good material for a fling. Much more interesting than the stable, upstanding man next door who builds a hut and farms some land.

Another aspect of female reproductive psychology is that she doesn't have to get her sperm from the same place she gets her resources. So it actually serves a woman's interests best if she gets impregnated by some sexy outsider, and then persuades the stable guy next door that he is the father of her child, and so obtain the resources from the stable guy. (Before DNA testing, meaning the most of human history, maternity was always certain but paternity was always uncertain; this asymmetry shaped all traditional societies.)

Sociologists call societies in which this behavior is most common "cad" societies, because the cad has the greatest reproductive success, while the stable, one-to-one monogamous societies sociologists call "dad" societies because they favor men who fuck just one women, to whom they give their resources, and women who fuck just one man, and bear and raise his children. This is the compromise that civilization made with human nature: "dad" societies punish both men who are cads and women who are sluts. Or, at least, they try to punish this behavior and to reward obligatory (socially enforced) monogamy. Most traditional civilizations have either been strongly patriarchal with top men having large harems, or dad societies in which everyone pairs up monogamously. Both systems work, but the former have to find something to do with the young men. Sometimes they are cast out of the group at maturity, and then they become the wandering dude who is attractive to bored women who stay close to home.

I think personally men are happy with very little yet women are the ones who keep spending on unnecessary things, and I'm sure they are brain washed to, like endless adverts for beauty products that claim to do this and have this bla bla bla yet women buy it all, Also women all ways like to follow fashion and keep up with modern gadgets.

However it keeps company's operating and produces jobs,, if all people were like me company's would no longer exist, I'm typing this on a 6 year old phone.

Hear me out.

Right from a very young age, men are taught to be goal-driven and self sustainable. We can't have shortcuts unless we inherit from our parents.

Women, in contrast, grow up very sheltered whether in school or college. Subconsciously, every young girl knows that someday, she will have to get married and leave her parents' house. It doesn't turn out that way, but that's the first notion any young girl has of marriage and love.

Then, there are reinforcements in the form of fairy tales and novels: Cinderella, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, etc.

A girl knows that she doesn't have to do anything in life as long as she marries a decent guy. A guy is brainwashed into thinking that he's the provider. How many guys you know of live a secure life knowing that their wives would take care of them if they failed, or didn't have a career? How many women, now? Exactly.

In terms of Evolution, men are providers. Women are rearers. So, it's ingrained for men to be logical, women to have high EQ.

Now, coming to the main point, men usually don't take things for granted. Because you've got to earn it or struggle for it. Women, in today's world, have it easier. They don't have to struggle around. They have it way easier than men, so they tend to take things for granted.

Look at job-hunting. A 5/10 woman with a good profile will easily land the job over a man with the same profile. Now, unless the man is a 8/10. A 8/10 woman who has some humor will easily find multimillionaires to get married to. A 8/10 man with good humor will have to settle for a 7/10 woman who holds a decent job, but nothing fancy.

So, women have it easier in developed countries. Hence, they tend not to be happy because they take it for granted. A man has it tougher worldwide, which is why small gestures mean a world to the man.

A man can be happy around his cat or dog. A woman will need a smartphone, her favorite pajamas, her two cats/dogs, and her favorite TV show playing in the background, all the while she's chatting about someone else's bf being hot or not with her bitch-mate, yet still complaining about how boring everything is with her flat-mate who's by her side—chatting shit on her own smartphone.

Today's society shapes women as overgrown babies. That's quite a contrast to even 40-50 years ago when women were far more mature than men in various aspects of life.

It boils down to whether or not you derive happiness and self-worth intrinsically or extrinsically. While both genders are capable of both, men tend to gain more happiness and self-worth intrinsically. They are happy with what they build, what they experience, and what they achieve. Someone with intrinsic self-worth can be content by improving his hobbies, hitting the gym, and going on a hike to somewhere new. Someone with extrinsic self-worth needs to be told by others that they are worthy of happiness. They need to buy the latest and greatest things to keep up with their peers. They need to impress others with their expensive trips and lavish dining. They need to live that fake Instagram life and that costs a lot.

We cannot generalize this statement.

Men are usually more in touch with the rational, divine self while women are more towards the animalistic and physical side. Therefore, their material hankerings are higher. Older women usually are happier once they cross over their narcissism but young women are smitten by their own beauty and power because of that.

However, men have it harder than women in life generally and therefore more prone to suicide and earlier deaths.

Part of this is due to female interests being heavily monetized.

Women are big consumers and often aren't the ones footing the bill so they are perfect marks for salesmen. My mother likely still doesn't have a good grasp on the value of a dollar, because they just come in from my dad 90% of the time.

Meanwhile, men shop for deals. A kickboxing gym with suspect training marketed at the go-get-it-girl weight loss crowd can charge absurd amounts, while a real Muay Thai gym is much scrappier and has almost no women. I'd say there's at least a 50% price difference.

Another aspect is that, all else equal, men are their own safety net of last resort, while women can easily "shack up", get free food and drink, or at least sell some used panties online.

A man will know he's an idiot if he bought a bunch of useless shit instead of building an emergency fund.

I live in a town with a ton of homeless people. It's a sausage fest on the actual street. Broke women are not living in parks as much as men. I wonder why, given that their wages are allegedly less.

Most importantly though, "a lot" simply doesn't look like what these women see it as. Most things that truly matter are cheap/free, such as hanging out with the boys.

Because we don't tend to put importance on shallow things in general? The perfect example would be what adds value to a woman from a male perspective, and vice-versa. We tend to go (at least I) for: kind, honest, family-oriented, logical (yeah I know, absurd trait in today's society) And from what I see, they usually go for: well off, tall, handsome, must love cats, must love romcoms, must put me before his friends, bs like that. I'm simple guy I would like to have a minimalist life style if I lived by myself. I live with my mother and she is constantly buying shit we don't need that 1. I have to put together and 2. I sometimes have to force into places or positions because she is to stupid to measure anything.

I like living simple because 1. I like the clean look and 2. if anything happens and I need to move out or move someone in. Not alot needs to be broken down or stuff like that to get the job done. as a man that has helped a lot of people move and have seen how much crap people have. I want to be able to to move myself if possible.
