I disagree.

When I was in school yes.

But as it was my absolute nerdiness that brought me to the world of PUA, game and eventually the red pill its been brilliant.

And then on top of this we have the added factor that hopefully I will be going places in my career thus elevating my status!

Bullshit.

That essay is about nerds with poor social skills. Also, high school is not a realistic representation of the adult dating field.

A smart person who properly applies their intelligence to learning social skills can absolutely clean up.

Their brain processes information that much faster. With a good memory you can be become enough of an expert on any topic to impress women who might value that knowledge. You can become an amazing bullshitter. You can exude confidence by basically knowing everything. You can become excellent at humor by just having a great memory and being able to think fast and come up with witty remarks. If you apply your knowledge to learning a system (like PUA) you can absolutely destroy.

The key is to just not be a fucking autistic beta. Apply the intelligence to learning social skills, not World of Warcraft.

Intelligence can and definitely does help with girls, assuming you're putting it to good use. People are conflating unattractive traits and behaviors with intelligence.

Personally, I find that along with the obvious ability to plan and understand what's happening that comes with mixing the red pill and high intelligence, I also find it useful in displaying one's dominance in a quick manner. Either a biting comment to another man, or 'holding court' on some topic of interest, both establish you as a high value individual.

Being intelligent doesn't mean you have to be a rejected weakling and a nerd with poor social skills. The usual school environment that most of us grow up in tends to beat the intelligent into submission and render them weak under the weight of peer rejection, but that doesn't mean you can't be both intelligent and a bad-ass later in life.

I think there is a selection bias in the whole thing.

There are kids who have low IQ and are nerdy in the sense of introverted, but they are such a huge losers, nobody, not even nerds notice their existence. An example could be some kind of anime otaku guy who fawns over sexy comics instead of focusing on the intelligently nerdy stuff.

Then there are intelligent and extroverted people, they are simply succesful and popular.

Nerdiness is the special combination of high IQ, low social skills / introvertedness, so it is people who have a complicated dynamics with others, often disliked yet in many things better, so it feels it is connected, but it isn't.

One thing no one has mentioned is that intelligence makes it hard for others to relate to you, because you're often doing things at the boundaries of human knowledge.

I'm doing AI research. It's fucking fascinating. Neural networks---computer systems working like the human brain---are awesome. I could (and, uh, have) talk about them for hours. You can do some seriously cool stuff with programs that can emulate human-like behaviors---I've made a squirrel-targeting Super Soaker, for instance, and there's been some amazing work done with drones.

So here's the rub---this stuff is seriously cool, and I get really excited talking about it. But being so focused on it has decreased the amount of time I spend on stuff other people do, which hurts my ability to relate to people. Some waiter can talk about a funny story that happened with a customer today, while I can have a funny story happen with "we were working on a recurrent network, but it turns out a simple perceptron was all we needed the whole time! Ha!" Even if my story is actually hilarious given context, no girl is going to wait for that context.

tl;dr being smart (or working on smart stuff) decreases the pool of people you enjoy spending time with

I wouldn't confuse being a nerd with being smart. There are plenty of not-so-bright nerds just like there are smart kids who do well with girls by being savvy enough to hide their, um, nerdish leanings.

Being a recovering geek/ borderline nerd myself I want to offer a different perspective. The perspective of VALUE. A popular person always offers value.infact all of us offer value. While nerds provide value that is out of line with a commoner. E.g. a nerd will talk about big bang/ WoW and probably tell you things that are very "valued" in those fields. Imagine that getting an HB wet? ( to the exclusion of some guys that are actually socially regressed) A "popular" person offers value in the emotional sphere. Humer , charm push pull is all emotional stimulation.This value offering is much in line with people and works.hell I am an rAFC and successfully used humor to get free subs from subway, free coffee from the nearby cafe.just today I paid the price of a regular sub and got double meat+free coffee and Extra bacon(he didnt bill them). Did it all by using blue pill humor about chicks. Few months ago this was unthinkable. Now I still am a geek inside so if you put me in a SciFi convention / engineering conference I will probably offer value in the geek sphere. Hence popularity. PS: this does not include looks which only count in the exceptionaly good looking outliers. Amazing good looks in guys will make them popular.but that's a rarity.

I was the total nerd in Highschool, LJBF'd by every girl I was interested in. Of course, reading the manosphere now, I can see I where I went wrong - taking beta advice at face value, calling girls idiots when I noticed they said one thing and did the opposite, rather than base my actions on their actions, ignoring their words, not realizing that sexual attraction is probably has scientists researching it with practical implications for you if you just find it and read it (rationalmale.wordpress.com does a good job of linking to studies).

These are things I hope to guide my son through when he's a teen.

Honestly, while the keyboard jockeys won't want to hear it. It's not their intelligence that makes them unpopular, it's their complete lack of all other qualities that makes them both unpopular, and intelligent.

When you can label someone with a word other than intelligent, you do, it's the natural thing we humans do.

This is easy to demonstrate by simply pulling the first word out of your head that you associate with people:

Brad Pitt - intelligent? nope, not the first word.
Ryan Goseling - intelligent? nope, not the first word.
The rugby team captain - intelligent? nope, not the first word.
Nathan Jones - intelligent? nope, not the first word.
Bill Gates - Yup, intelligent. What other positive characteristics could we use to describe his personality? None.
Steve Jobs - Yup, intelligent. What other positive characteristics could we use to describe his personality? None.
Vitali Klitschko - heavy weight boxer, intelligent? Nope. Oh shit, he's also a bad ass chess player (World Heavyweight Champion Vitali Klitschko has an Elo rating approaching International Master status), but we all know that's just icing on the cake for the lucky lady that gets to balance on his balls.

And we could go on and on and on with this list.

So basically, when someone's sole victory in life is their intelligence, it's because they have such low quantities of every other positive trait (masculinity, charm, beauty, strength, etc.) that we could possibly label them with. It's the human default pos trait, and practically amounts to an insult when viewed as what it really is.

Which brings us to the question: why are smart guys so terrible with women? Because they have nothing else to offer. You think Ryan Goseling, Brad Pitt and Nathan Jones are retards? I doubt it, I'd be willing to bet that they might even fall on the high end of the bell curve regarding intelligence, but we will never attribute their success with women to that, if it is the case.

The majority of the world is not that smart. So it seems that women prefer dumber guys, but that's only because they themselves are dumb. Especially when women are younger do they prefer dumb guys to smart guys. It takes a while for a smart guys intellect to pay off in the form of a high-paying career whereas a dumb guy just needs to be cool in the here-and-now.
