This is nuts. Today I was being blamed. Over nothing...

I tried to swallow TRP a year ago, tried it again a few months later. This didn't work, because I couldn't be the guy I wanted to be. Recently, some things sunk in... Let me go back a bit and try to explain...

I have battled the last 4.5 years with depression. This was due to a couple of events in the past that let me feel ashamed. Not only did I lose my job over that, I also lost my GF back then in the process (me being a complete beta wreck and her cheating on me in the aftermath). All stupidity aside, it wasn't a big thing (hacking some stupid minor stuff), but I kept blaming myself. About two months ago, after some successful freelancing, I landed my dreamjob. The only thing that could potentially hurt my career was that stupid thing I did in the past. The secret I carried with me. Two weeks ago I received not only a letter of good conduct (which basically says "you are appropriate for the job"), also a very good review on the end of my probationary period on my job. This is a huuuuuuge relief. It felt like winning a battle after so many years...

So here comes this woman. I dated her and she is pleasantly sexy. She could me LTR material to many guys. I don't really feel like having a GF. Partially because of what I now know though TRP, partially because... mehhhh... just don't feel like it. Not her, that's for sure.

Ever since I heard the good news, which feels like being reborn somehow, I have been more distant towards her. Party-mode, spending time with friends/family and lots of sleep after losing a ton of stress... I tried to tell her I am not looking for a GF, somehow she doesn't want to hear it. Today is her birthday and yesterday we would go out. I didn't feel like it, so I cancelled it early on...

Fast forward to today. I explained to her that I didn't feel like it. That I have my own stuff to handle. That I won a battle (she knows about my past) and need my own space. And yes... after she initially 'accepts' it (I politely apologised to her for not being there), she just started the 'blame-game'.

"You know, I understand your position and I accept your apology. BUT... I still feel like shit. You just hurt my belief in men again. Today is my birthday... that should be a happy thing. But you made me feel like shit"

I don't get it. And I do get it, thanks to TRP. We dated... yes... TWO TIMES. Two times, both times ofcourse ending up in bed. She has a good deal of friends she sees a lot, so she is social and not 'alone'. She is older (feels like hitting the wall already at 33) than me, should be more mature. But yet, she feels like a 16y old, blaming me for her feeling 'alone'. That I would be her 'birthday-present', and now giving me shit because I refused to be it.

I used her own words against her. Being completely calm and polite:

"So... first you say you 'accept' my apology, then you tell me you don't trust me. You say 'yes, BUT...'. That's not very nice, isn't it? Look, if someone apologizes to you and you accept it, you can't go back on it and start blaming again. That's certainly not a person I want to be around. Bye!"

That being said... I feel reborn. Time to hit the gym. Time to invest the energy I used fighting my battles in something constructive now. Time to further build my career and travel. The world is at my feet. And so are the many plates to come...
