It's funny because Trek despite being widely perceived as a show for neckbeards is probably one of the most woke franchise to ever exist. All the woke stuff that whymin love so much, from strong women in leadership positions to interracial couples to gay couples to celebrating minorities was on Star Trek 30 years or more before it hit mainstream audiences. But hey, I guess it's too brainy for them, too much blabla and not enough pewpew.

The other day I was having lunch with some co-workers and made a joke about AI and Skynet - all the guys at the table laughed - the one woman that was there didn't. The guy across from her asked:
"You didn't get the joke?"
"Not really..."
"It was about the Terminator movies - have you seen them?"
"Oh the robots? yes, I've seen it. Arnold Schwarzenegger, right?"
"Yes, so then you know what Skynet is then?"
"No? What is it?" (we're all listening... I'm not surprised, typical woman in IT)
"That's the killer robots AI, it controls everything the robots do"
"Oh... oh okay"

It was clear she didn't understand even though she's seen the movies.

So just so you feel welcome we have to :

Change work hours so you don't feel threatened at night or hire a transport for you.
Hire HR women and conduct numerous exercises on gender sensitivity so as to reduce chances of getting sued. Not to mention the cost of these sessions and loss of productivity while attending theae numbing copy/paste sessions by our employees.
Take action on talented men even without any evidence of wrongdoing or be subjected to a lawsuit ourselves.
Not even talk/joke about stuff we like as it makes you feel unwelcome.
Tip toe around you as even though you are my employee, a single misstep can be viewed as sexist and case may be filed against my business. Not to even talk about false alligations made to milk the money out of bosses.

Well, let me ask you straight. Why should I?

What do you bring to table for requiring everyone to jump through so many hoops? Why shouldn't I just hire some guys who love coding, star wars/trek, pizza and just let them do their thing and have a laugh while doing it with them?
