A bit of "explain like I'm 5" here. I guess the easiest way to explain hypergamy it is to use some analogies.
f you wanna understand how women feel when it comes to love, just think about a time when you were looking for a job. I guess you start with checking different job offers, apply for many jobs simultaneously, go to job interviews, trying to "sell yourself", compare your options and then go with the best one. Sometimes it's about the salary, sometimes it's about career opportunities, right? There is a probation period, when you try your best to get a permanent contract (more rights and security). With time, if you are badly paid, bored or you are offered a better position in another company you might quit your old job and start a new, more promising one. In order to have better chances you invest in self-education, polish your CV and always keep a job search under the radar.
Some people are more career oriented than others, but in general it works this way. That's how women think about relationships with men. It's their career. Men are mostly disposable, just like jobs.
Dates are their job interviews, probation period is their "demo mode" before they get married, fitness and beauty salons are their self-education, etc. If a woman is a real careerist, she will never stay with the same man for long.
Plus, keep in mind, that once a woman is married she has a way more rights then when you get a job. With time a woman can get half of your money, take your kids with her and ruin your life.
