Hi all,

I’m new to Reddit, but have been actively browsing MGTOW content for the past year on YouTube and various other platforms. I wanted to share my story, not as a tragedy, but as motivation for young men around my age who feel lost in the current dating environment. By the way, this is going to be long, but trust me, it’s worth a read:

Last year I was dating a girl who I thought was the perfect package (very attractive, intelligent, college athlete, solid career goals, etc). The relationship was going great until one day I was involved in a horrible accident. The damage that was done was so severe I had to undergo a very rare operation (twice) in which I had to have a total of 16 nerves in my head and face surgically decompressed (5 of them being removed) on top of being told by a concussion specialist that my reading comprehension and mental processing speed had regressed all the way back to a 3rd grade level (this is while I was an honors student at undergrad).

About 2 months after all this happened, and I still had very visible large scars, as well as a host of neurological problems, she went from “I love you, we’re going to get through this” to “I’m moving back to California, I’m sorry, but your situation is too much for me to handle”. I was completely devastated.

About a month later with rehab going frustratingly slow, I booked an appointment with a clinic that specializes in concussion and neuro recovery for pro athletes (even after insurance, it drained everything I had). After that, my progression skyrocketed. It sucked, don’t get me wrong. A lot of headaches, and learning how rebalance myself to walk, stand, relearn reading speed and comprehension, etc., but after some time, I finally managed to get to a reasonable level of daily living and things kept improving.

So now my dilemma was, what the hell do I do? I had managed to finish undergrad (barely, and through a lot of accommodation), but as far as a social life, I wanted nothing to do with dating and just so happened to start encountering my first bits of MGTOW info. I also continued to have my lifelong dream in the back of my mind of going to law school. As I kept learning more about the MGTOW lifestyle and the value of self-worth as a man, and self-respect, and going for your dreams, the feeling to pursue this opportunity grew. I wasn’t 100% healthy yet, but if there was ever a time to test myself, and say fuck the dating nonsense and social noise it was now. So I took two LSAT prep courses simultaneously, as well as practically moving into the library for several months. I took the LSAT, and on my first try did well enough to get accepted to everywhere I applied to. Not only that, but I even got offered a full scholarship (how’s that for 3rd grade level lol) which I graciously accepted.

I am currently writing this in my new apartment, which is located feet away from the law school I worked my ass off to get into. The amount of new friends I’ve made in my new city and at the school already has been incredible, and it’s only getting better with each day.

So what happened to the girl? She actually messaged me not too long ago. She couldn’t believe I was the same person when I told her what I did in only a year. As for her, she told me she ended up dropping out of undergrad and eventually got engaged to some guy with a kid from a previously failed marriage, and she’s unemployed, but “working on her real estate license”.

Sometimes you gotta walk through the lowest depth of hell to reach the highest peak on the mountain. Never let these women make or break you. YOU and only YOU must choose your own path....
