If you have the money pulled out of your check via direct deposit - that will leave a paper trail. First lawyer will find that. Have 2 separate deposits made in the open. Withdraw cash from one and put the cash away. Say its pocket $$$ or gas money. Do not think you'll hide a separate account from an atty. Too easy these days to find an acct.

Every federally-insured bank or credit union is going to ask for your ID and social security number, in order to open any kind of deposit account. They will insist. However, you are not legally required to give up your SSN, which ties assets to you. Likewise, they are not legally required to open an account for you without one. Visit ten bank branches in one day and you will likely find one that will open an account for you without a SSN. Do not bother simply calling banks for this information, as you will receive only the standard answer. None of my deposit accounts have my SSN on them.

Low-level prepaid Visa/MC debit cards at Walmart etc. are another means of deposit accounts without any connection to your SSN. Max $500 each, I think.

I have seen people send money to themselves through Western Union and Moneygram. They charge around 10% for this, but you can leave the funds up in space for up to 45 days. This aids in plausible deniability. Max $3,000 each, I think.

Cash is still king. If you want to save money and will be paying in cash, save cash.

If you are trying to hide money, cash or gold/silver (actual coins) is the only way to go. Anything you open from an account perspective is reported to the government as a result of the PATRIOT act.

If the court ever finds it, you will get fucked handily and could lose the whole kitty.

On a serious not, couldn’t you use your current bank and just open an account in only your name? I haven’t been through a divorce so I’m not educated on it, but wouldn’t that money be solely yours and not up for grabs in a settlement? Especially if you spent most of it in the process

Get a coinbase account and start buying crypto. There's actually a crypto currently taht's always equal to $1 US and it never goes up or down. I'm not sure how stable that currency is as it sounds fake as hell, but it's like a nice interest free bank account with zero (potentially) risk

I would say take some if not all of that money and turn it over to someone you trust. Legally it becomes their assets so you are off the hook legally. I would check with a lawyer first or check state laws in regards to this though.

As others have said, use crypto. You get any sort of legal bank then she gets to use it.

Either hide stacks of cash at work, hidden, whatever. Convert it to gold and hide that, or go with crypto in a paper wallet you can cash out later.

If this will be soon, hiding cash may be the easiest option.

Depending on how soon the divorce is... increase your federal tax withholding the amount of the raise might be a strategy. Money disappears till next year when you file and get it refunded.

Lawyers love going through bank statements but they would have to be pretty diligent to catch that.

Do NOT use a bank account in the USA if thats' where you're from. That will absolutely be found. Safe deposit boxes are also a no-go, those too will be found.

You should setup an account in a foreign country, find a non-bank based safe deposit box to keep cash in, or if you have a friend you would trust with your life, have them open an account for you in their name only and give you the debit card. But al these things have different degree of risk.

Capitol one. It's free, you can create as many accounts as you like. I have a checking account with a debit card I use for private purchases. Along with various savings accounts. Set everything up for ebill so nothing is ever mailed.

Take cash from your account and either store that or use it to purchase gold or silver coins then bury your loot like capt kidd. All banks belong to the chexx system so they can query your identity thru any bank to find out what financial instruments or safety deposit boxes you may have.
