She might have been manipulating you to get a free drink. She might have been showing interest a d asking you to reciprocate. I think in this case it was the latter.

If you wanted a date or sex or some sort of relationship, buying a drink might have been in order. None of those things were going to happen after you rejected her, especially in front of her friend. Women are not used to rejection, and also don't usually put themselves out there the way men do in courtship.
