Funny thing is how women stopped protesting (mostly in uk)as soon as ww1 started. I remember some history books claiming how courageous they were for stopping it and that they did it for national benefits

I remember a specific book which had a different perspective. People knew what was going on in front lines such as "somme" and etc. People knew this new " trench warfare " isn't fun and its similar to hell and women knew it too. They didn't want their " protests for equality" lead them to be drafted in war so they just stopped protesting.

This is the very reason why I don't think women should be allowed to vote. Women can't even handle the demands of basic training to be in front line infantry. They always take softer jobs... this means they typically end up getting skills that better serve them at the end of military service.... while men risk their lives and work on things like tank maintenance. Yea... women's vote? Complete joke.

Interestingly, did you know that Australia had an all volunteer army in WW1. They tried to bring in conscription later in the war, when volunteer numbers dropped off because of horrendous casualties Australian soldiers suffered. The government tried twice to bring in conscription and twice it was voted down by the population. Many womens organisations campaigned on the "no" side and it was remarkable that they won, considering almost all the media of the day was for conscription.

Democratic countries that have armies should FORCE 50% of soldiers to be women. I'm not talking volunteer, I mean automatically draft them and put them on the front lines and make that a condition of keeping your voting rights.

If women want the right to vote they should be forced to put their lives on the line for it.

And if they refuse to serve on the front lines, then they lose their right to vote. And then keep enlisting women until most women have voluntarily given up their rights.
