Just watched the latest episode and my jaw literally dropped at parts by how much it sucks shit now. Why did Adult Swim think it would be a good idea to have a COMEDY show about a BOY and his GRANDFATHER be written by women??

Cheap unfunny rip off of popular movies, shout outs to racial diversity, pandering to Israel, arguments about relationships, no humor...

I watched episode 4 (having thought all of season three, thus far, had been pretty mediocre) and couldn't believe how terrible it was. The first thing I did was rewind to the writing credits because the feminist meddling was just so unsubtle. Sure enough, suspicions confirmed. Not only that, but the occasionally pseudo-intellectual, pretentious Rick is now entirely so. Everything that comes out of his mouth is dripping with edgy, teenage sarcasm (i.e. female sensibilities - "I speak sarcasm," "I'm really sarcastic," "if you don't get sarcasm, this probably isn't going to work"). Rick's now a 16 year-old emo girl. The show is so clearly just a jerk-off platform for these women and a chance to showcase their surface-level understanding of politics/geopolitics and boast about all the generic shit they read during their liberal arts educations (I nearly shit my pants at how contrived that E.B. White reference was).
Read this Hollywood Reporter article and rage (if you haven't already). I've always found Dan Harmon pretentious and annoying, but he has officially ruined the only funny cartoon to come along since Family Guy. I would like to think that he didn't immediately spread his ass for the adult swim postmodernist overlords demanding more clams in the writer's room, but it's the end of days, so anything's possible. I understand the show has reached far beyond the niche audience who were watching during the first season, and catering to the lowest common denominator (your average adult swim cartoon watcher) is a commercial decision at the end of the day, but Jesus, women really do ruin everything. Instead of complaining about gender equity in Hollywood, why not make your own shit, send it off into the culture, and if people embrace it, good for you.

Rick is wanted by an intergalactic perhaps multidimensional empire and the only people he's afraid to call out sober, are the Jews.
Really makes you think.

Right!?! You can totally tell that women are writing it because they used fucking Saw theme. Humm...wonder where they got that idea. Could it be that FUCKING HULU has all the Saw movies as recommended this month? Guess who binge watches fucking HULU? Yes...my fucking sister and every other damn woman alive.
Women are not creative nor are they funny.

Season 3- 1: Really great introduction back to rick&morty 2: not a bad episode, had some funny parts especially morty and his giant hand. 3: PICKLE RICK, loved this episode. Wasn't a huge fan of the family therapy part. But shit happens 4: wasn't a bad episode, surely lacked some real body. As soon as you got the plot that rick killed world ender you knew exactly what was going to happen the rest of the way (except for the end party) which could be in relation to how stupid superhero movie endings are.
There may be some random shoutouts to politics, conspiracy theorist shit etc. but that's the beauty of rick&morty it's random, fun and mostly the stupidity of the comedy that makes it funny.
Anyways this is just one dudes opinion about each episode in season 3.
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
editors... are not writers.
[–]ThisIsntDebateClass0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Actually, they are. Story editors in television series are higher ranking members of the writing staff. They write their own stories just like the rest of the staff (all four of the women listed in the image here have written stories themselves for this season, according to the wikipedia episode list information), but as story editors, they also give revision notes to other staff members on the latter's stories.
[–]rebuildingMyself2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The show had a good formula, therefore became popular. In comes the feminists to hijack it and use it as a soapbox.
[–]Highly_Literal62 points63 points64 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
They kicked out the father and are making the last adult man in the main cast more feminized.. hmmmm surely a coincidence

Fuck it.
[–][deleted] 20 points21 points22 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
I kinda thought pickle rick was alright. 4th episode was boring tbh
[–]manzone2228 points29 points30 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I found it weird that when rick was a pickle his "master plan" got undone by beth seeing the timer and took the syringe, when the old rick would have a dozen back ups at least each one more outrageous then the last
[–]marsdrogan[S] 19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Pickle Rick concept is fun. the episode was all about the mom getting Rick to go to family therapy though and in the end he gets there and they have the therapy session and surprise she was right all along about everything.
[–]IAmTheDos16 points17 points18 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
She being the therapist, not Beth. Beth was almost entirely wrong, spent most of the session trying to get the focus off of her and onto the kids. Therapist was having none of it, and kept bringing it back to the real problem in the family. Not the kids, not the Dad, but her and Ricks relationship. And just like the therapist was describing, the episode ends with Rick and Beth both ignoring the problem (and the kids), not being honest with each other, and choosing to get drunk.
Beth was not being glorified in that episode, quite the opposite.
[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
True tbh i thought pickle rick was going to be used as a dildo by Summer or something lol
[–]1Badshot11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Please submit your credentials and salary requirements. Dildo Rick is infinitely funnier than anything they have done this season.
"I'm Dildo Rick!"
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Tbh, I've thought of writing Rick and Morty comics. I wonder how the creators would react to that though...? And of course I'd give credit to where credit is due :D
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Pickle Rick was awesome. But that episode was shit about the family counselor parts. Shit was awkward. But the part of the only man on the show, Rick, turned his terrible situation into bad-assdom really made me want to get up and fix shit in my life and quite whining about it.
[–]marsdrogan[S] 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
ugh
[–]1Badshot17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I kept waiting for a laugh. The therapist is less funny than any no-lines background character in any previous show. While I don't expect to laugh at all of the jokes, I have never before sat through and episode with no laughs at all. Each show this season gets weaker. The ending of Pickle Rick is genuinely boring! Can anyone think of any other episode where that is true?
[–]ObviouslyRP2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The wasteland episode was such obvious payback for the episode where Rick takes summer to the sex segregated dimension. Somehow the women (summer) are/is tougher than the men who are emotional about the whole ordeal. Just want to laugh again on the fact that our best clothing designers are men and that's how they got out of execution
[–]Nick_Merines15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I would be fine with Women in it if it was genuinely funny, however that does not seem to be the case so they should be fired
[–]MGaccount614 points15 points16 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
This one hits me right in the balls, I really like Rick and Morty but episodes 302-304 had a different tone and were not as great. 303 (Pickle Rick) was the best out of those 3 but it still wasn't amazing. Here's an example of the show being ruined.
SuperNova says, "All these deaths are on your hands Rick"
Rick says, "Well maybe a couple but definitely not 1 mil ants"
SuperNova then hits him in the balls and repeats "ALL OF THEM."
A hit in the nuts is the most stereotypical "girls think guys find it funny" 'joke'. Not to mention where SuperNova was strangling Rick and Morty and they didn't do anything (when Rick is capable of murdering their archenemy when he is blackout drunk). The new writers: "Girls are so much more powerful than men yay female writers"

[–]Jonlife14 points15 points16 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Pickle Rick and episode 1 were dope. But the one where they are in the mad max land was weak. I rewatched season one and 2 and they're def masterpieces compared to this season which doesn't seem too cohesive.
The show def seems to be toning back the red pill rage it had every episode. Hopefully they just hit it out of park with all the rest of the episodes, but yeah, there's def something off with this new season

[–]oldmanlogan7610 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I'd much rather they'd make a show for women by women instead of foisting female humor and sensibilities on an already established property.
I personally don't think women can be funny. That's not to say they aren't funny to everyone they just aren't funny to me.
[–]newMGTOW15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
women going and starting their own show/thing
that doesn't happen for two reasons:
1) its easier to just hijack something else that already had the hard work done, developing a back story and doing the business work to get the large number of viewers
2) fundamentally its not that women want a thing for women (there is already a shit tonne of womens things), they want to displace men from having their own stuff that women do not approve of they want to stop any kind of dark humor or red pill thoughts or anything that draws mens attention away from themselves. The same reason a wife hates her husband having any hobbies.
[–]trumps_amygdala9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's pretty clear that there was a change in style.
We won't see the season 1/2 existential shit much anymore
[–]morerokk8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep. Their writing team is now 50% women, which means they hired them solely for their gender, not their merit.
[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I don't understand this. The show ended long ago. S03E01 was the finale.
[–]redditrat992 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You know, this is what i thought too. Aside from the rant by rick at the end, the season 3 premier felt like an end.
[–]simplystimpy5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Here's what I'm hoping comes out of this, after season 3: the female writers/editors leave of their own volition, as fast as they abandoned the Ghostbusters reboot ("muh Patriarchy"). Then Rick and Morty goes back to being a cross of Back to the Future and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
[–]Ruby-xy6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I have to say that I was disappointment in season 3. I also feel like something is off, rick is just literally a douchebag and a god now. At this point he don't even need to be smart to get things done.
I also felt like Morty was supposed to evolve and become more bad-ass. But he is now weaker than ever.
But I have seen worse: like in futurama were kif and Leela's father come crawling back to the woman, after the woman cheated on them.

So... we've done this go round each week for the last three weeks.
MGTOW Group A will continue not going their own way, and will complain about female writers, implying that D. Harmon and co would ever possibly read this sub and change.
MGTOW Group B will rightly suggest that since the show is now "compromised", we should vote with our wallets, and stop supporting the show. This action is the more MGTOW option, and supports not acting like petulant children.
MGTOW Group A will pretend to not notice B Groups logic, and will keep crying and wailing.
MGTOW Group A will repost something without checking the front page, and next week, Rick and Mortys female writers will be back up.
Welp! That should cover this topic for this week! Catch you all next week!

holy shit, season 1 episode 7 is crying
[–]Zealomon1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The first half of the fourth episode was very choppy with its narrative flow and didn't have that trademark energy. I remember watching it and wondering if they were trying something different. But I enjoyed the hero-SAW parts.
Women are smart and funny....get over it.
[–]a17c81a31 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Female writers should always be used only sparingly; in the context of the show runner being male and the majority of the writing staff being male. You have to make them step up to play with the big boys. If they're surrounded by other women, you're going to get the sickening thing you expect.

How so? Aside from S03E01 there hasn't been a good episode this season. S03E02 was on par with some of the weaker episodes from the first two seasons but S03E03 and S03E04 were the worst episodes in the entire series thus far.
I could give a fuck who the creative team behind the episodes were. Bad writing is bad writing.
