I despise fat people, even more so that I used to be overweight myself as a result of my mom feeding me shitty food instead of home cooked meals when I was a kid.

That means I also know just how easy it actually is to get fit, it's as easy as eating more greens and less pasta/bread, meat is okay, and doing regular exercise.

Fat people are just making excuses for themselves, there is no proven genetic relation to being overweight, the only truth is that you are what you eat.

Having been fat and lost a lot of weight (and gained some muscle) in the past year or so, I have to say that a lot of it is because of very VERY bad advice in the media.

I used to have a food addiction so to speak, needing to eat a lot all the time. Which a lot of people have. So you try to follow the advice of u know eating 60% carbs and several times a day because hey, that's what's always promoted.

But what it was is a CARB addiction. And it spikes insulin the most, especially in combination with protein and over time creates insulin resistance, especially if you eat all the time, keeping insulin up and not letting your body actually use your fat for fuel.

Anyway, did all that keto and intermittent fasting with some exercise (at home, not gym) and it was the easiest weight loss plan I have EVER done, because I never felt hungry after 2 weeks or so. All the other diets I had to force myself not to eat because I was always hungry.

Not to mention fasting doesn't lower metabolism like lowering calories does, on the contrary it fixes it.

So yeah just saying but imo, a part of it is them not wanting to give up some foods, but on the other hand it's also a carb addiction and bad info, with sugar and other shit being in everything (even fucking bacon) and bad advice everywhere. Not to mention retarded nutritionists being retarded and saying that you need carbs for fuel or other shit like needing to eat 5-7 times a day because your body is like a car and doesn't survive without carbs lol. I really feel the need to bitchslap them when i hear one say that.

Honestly, I see where you're coming from, but this post is unfair. I'm not fat, but if you're "tired of seeing all these fat people," then simply try not to look at them and focus on yourself. Sure, they could get their "shit together and lose weight," but it's more complex than that.

Also, I'm not coming from the feminist bullshit of "beauty," but fat can be advantageous, that is, if used for the robustness.

I think the Golden Rule should be taken into account when making posts like these.

I appreciate this. I was fat for decades, and though I shouldn't have needed it, my friends and family (mostly men, but a few sisters, aunts and women-friends, too) gave me a kick in the pants to get my act together. I got a shit load of advice, some of the tough-love variety, some of the sweet-cajoling type, but the message was the same: "You're fat, and it's your fault. Fix it."

This was only one example of an over-arching life lesson that I needed to learn: I'm responsible for my own life.

I agree but the last sentence is irrelevant. I'm physically fit enough (I'd pass PFT) to join the Army but I can't due to flat feet. Fat people should lose weight because it's unnatural to be fat, plain and simple.

Thank you for this post dabforamerica. We need it more than you know. Too many of us are turning into useless piles of blubber. And quite frankly, were better than that. Just do some exercise on a regular basis, both weights and cardio. And get on that just stop stuffing my fat face diet.

It's not hard. For weights I have a 3 days a week, 15 minute dumbbell routine that I paid a physical therapist a crap load of co-payments to keep my torn shoulder out of the operating room. For cardio I walk the dogs in the morning and evening. And for my diet, I just put down the damn fork.

That's it. It's not rocket science.

I think I can give you a good understanding about being fat because, not only am I fat, but I have also been really skinny when I was in my early twenties. I have also been fat, then was able to lose weight and get really skinny again, and then got fat again. So I know a lot about how to be skinny and how to be fat.

First of all, I truly believe there is a strong biological component to weight. The reason I believe this is that I did basically NOTHING to stay in shape when I was in my early twenties, rarely exercised, and ate lots of junk food, and I still was really skinny.

This changed as I got older. If this can change with age, then I don't see why it can't differ among different people. Maybe some people just have a harder time keeping their weight down.

Now after I got fat, I was able to get my weight back down again. Let me tell you how I did it. I exercised some, but it was especially diet. I completely changed my diet and ate almost perfectly. Lots of vegetables and water. It can be done. So why did I gain the weight back? When I was able to lose the weight, I was working a very low-stress, but also a very low-paying, job. When I got a better job, I got much busier. I started needing to eat fast and wanted to eat things that tasted good, because I was working so much harder. The last thing I felt like doing was spending an hour chewing carrots and drinking water. But I had to get the better job, because I never could have built my future with the money I was making at the low-paying job.

I also believe that it's possible that people get fat for different reasons. For me, it's about what's more important to me. I could probably weigh less if I switched to a lower paying job -- but I'd be giving up a lot of things that my current job allows me to afford.

I still am trying to lose weight as best I can, but I understand exactly why I could lose weight before, compared to now.

I don't think there's a need to rip on fat people. Obviously, it's good to encourage family and friends to work toward a healthy weight, but that's different from ripping on them.

However, if someone wants to express their opinion, that's their opinion.

One thing I will say, I do not think people should be trying to push that being fat is healthy if science says that it isn't. Also, I do NOT expect women to find me as attractive as if I were in shape. Attraction is biological and doesn't appear to have much to do with what's on the inside of a person, or with being fair or nice. As a fat guy, I see no point in pushing fat as beautiful, for men or for women -- not because it wouldn't be nice if people were judged based on how good of people they are, but because I don't believe you can change what people find attractive very much simply by trying to tell them what to think. It seems pointless and unrealistic to me. You just are not going to be able to get beautiful women to date me just by telling them to.

It's better for the economy this way unfortunately. More people buying conveniences and product in general. Easier to market towards due to low self esteem. More doctor's office and hospital visits, more meds, etc. Not to mention that sugar is a crazy addictive substance.

I lost about 70 pounds several years ago and recently stated working out. Most of the information seems fairly common sense about weight loss but the real truth about being healthy is obscured behind mountains of garbage articles that promote shitty quick fix tips.

I am damned sick of assholes running off at the mouth about fat people. Don't like it, don't look, mind your own goddamned business... I'm fat, I'm working on it, if my speed and progress does not suit you, tough shit. A lot of people get themselves into the positions they are in for a lot of different reasons, and a very rare few can't fucking help it due to biology. Nobody, who is struggling to get back on the right path needs some twat dispensing sage wisdom like "fat people are disgusting, you need to lose weight," as if to say in the snap of your fingers you can get the job done. I take no pride in my weight, quite the opposite, but it is what it is, and I will get back on track when I can, and when it suits me.

Would we based on my stats? Let's see.. I'm 6'+ and weigh in at around 300lbs. My fat ass can once again throw (not just lift) a 210lb transmission, I can break boards with my fists (from home depot, not the kind for kung fu exibition), I can jog 2 miles in 15-20 min., I do not get winded from that or stairs even though I have mild asthma, when I hunt I am the ammo bearer, with a musset sack of several boxes of ammo, I can't even remember the last time I lost a fist fight, and finally I am lethal (Pick the button on your shirt that you want hit from 0 - 1500 meters dependent on weapon. I am pretty damned sure that I could hold my own if the country needed civilian militia to repel invaders. Though there would be a hell of a lot of convincing involved that I should try and save it.

This is not to say that there is no component of the "beautiful at any size" or lazy good for nothing drains on society among the fat, there are too many of those out there, yes. Having gone over the feed limit, or running into a bumpy patch that lead to being fat is no reason to discount a person outright, or assume that they are lacking in strength or capability.
