I comfort myself with reading, playing guitar, playing video games.

Reading is excellent. You can surround yourself with other lonely men from ancient times who went through the same shit you are going through now.

My mind is just not stimulated by average people. They are so incredibly boring because they fill their life with Netflix and social media, which is all fiction and intended to brainwash, then wonder why this propaganda leaves them an empty shell with no direction, purpose, autonomy, or happiness.

All other guys want to discuss usually is women, or maybe sports. Women are useless.

Sounds like you need the freedom of an artistic expression like music. That is the only time I feel free. Society is mostly a cage by comparison.

I've been alone for 20 years. It's my solace and 100% peace and quiet. I also am fortunate to live way out in a rural area , nearest house 1/3 mile away, so no traffic/dogs barking, and urban bullshite.

Being alone is now my default state. I have friends I spend time with and with some family, but my sisters are both huge drama queen flakes that are disfunctional, and co-dependent so I rarely see them. Zero in common, nothing to talk about.

Some people just have the ability to not freak out about being alone, and I'm damn fortunate that's me

I love being alone as well. But it's good to have some social skills for work. There are ways of being left alone and earning money.

You could learn a skill or trade and become a freelancer or self-employed worker.

That's what I'm doing.

I work alone throughout the day. Most of my communication is via email, with the occasional telephone call.

Social skills are important though. You need to know how to attract clients, sell your skills to them, and negotiate with them. I taught myself this by reading articles and listening to podcasts, and you can too.

I work so I get 40 hours of time spent around people. I'm an introvert though so the rest of the time I spend entirely alone just playing video games, smoking pot, and hanging around. It's incredibly inexpensive and I could easily foresee myself doing this until I get enough wealth to retire. College was okay, but yeah, there's so much pressure to make the most of it, so when you finally get out into the real world and you realize you have 40+ years to do whatever you like and make more than enough money for just yourself, feelsgoodman.

In today's world is there any way to be left alone and still earn money? I have a hard time making friends. It seems to be successful you have to be good with people, which I am not.

Utter lies, there's Hell lot of jobs that require you to be a good specialist, to be good with numbers, with images, videos, blueprints or machines, no matter how shitty you are with people. If you get the shit done, you will be cherished. There are limitations on how much you'll make (in comparison with top management), but often those limitations are enough to support yourself, your stay-at-home wife and a couple kids, and way more than enough to support yourself alone. There are some conditions of course, such as necessity to follow public hygiene rules, but they're not that burdening.

I love individual sports and hate team sports.

Well cool; bouldering gives you a challenging environment with very little necessity to interact with others, except avoiding bumping into them, and in comparison with "classic" climbing, it's relatively safe.

I have two roommates who are nice, but it still irritates me.

Clench your fists and survive until the graduation; make your first salary and aim to live separately. The shit-show with being forced to share private space with other people is not the reality of life but its phase. When you start making enough money to support yourself, the only limit to the amount of space you want to dedicate to your very personal playground will be your salary.

No. The "Golden Age" of economics when it was possible to make a living by wise investments alone is gone. But you can still have some privacy for yourself and limit your "socializing" to bare minimum.

After "standing on your feet" financially, the only threat to your privacy will be accidents (take care of your safety and health!) and marriage. If some golden unicorn or single mom starts aggressively chasing you (and this is VERY likely), deflect her by telling, as early as you see the chaser symptoms in her, that you probably aren't as good as she expects because of certain health issues, without going into details. That will gross her out enough to lose all interest, almost instantly.

Social anxiety has been a lifelong struggle for me. Right now I'm re-reading "No more Mr. Nice Guy", I recommend it. The premise is to take your needs first, learn to make yourself happy, and to get over any traumatic experiences in your childhood.

I was circumcised at birth, it made me distrustful of society and wary of my own behavior so that I wouldn't enrage "them" again. This bottled up my emotions creating multiple layers of bullsh*t I'm slowly peeling off. All children go through traumatic experiences that as ego-driven infants we attribute to our own shortcomings, building toxic shame that can accumulate over time. Get rid of your shame, nobody is perfect.

Does your college require you to live in university housing for all 4 years? If not, I would suggest that you go find a studio apartment or a 1BR apartment off campus if you want to be left alone.

Also find quiet places around the university where you can work in peace and go back to your room just to sleep.

I like being social but I struggle to maintain friendships beyond superficial levels because I have never been an agreeable person. I have a very stubborn and selfish (as described by non-MGTOW's) personality. I get most of my social interaction by doing things such as jiu jitsu, playstation network, lifting weights.. rather than just chilling and hanging out.

However, I feel like this all would change if there were some sort of local MGTOW meet up group so that it would be easier for me to find people I can connect to.

Yes, I have a few bits:

It's true, being social is a skill and to make your way in the world (from time to time) you do need to be outgoing and be the kind of man to "break the ice" with people. Things like taking a speech class or Toastmasters International are excellent for breaking you out of your shell and giving you the confidence to do it. Takes time, but it's not nearly as hard as you might think. I say this as a guy who was once "that shy, quiet boy" and now I'm good with others, when I'm not home enjoy the quiet.
I would recommend doing something productive and rewarding to build confidence in you - it can change your life remarkably. Weightlifting has improved my life FAR more than I could have anticipated, and my confidence is pretty darn good now. But it took hard work and time.

You should work on improving yourself, and what you'll find is that you'll become the kind of man who gets compliments from others/has that "something" other people admire, which in turn builds your confidence, which in turn makes you even more outgoing (when needed) and so on.

You can definitely be an introvert but you need to appreciate that having social skills is a requirement in many parts of life. You don't have to go out and party, etc., but to really make progress in life (as opposed to just accepting being "ok" and taking whatever fate dishes you, like many men) you need to work on that.

the only way to fix this is to socialize with people. Here are some options since im also in university.

talk to your family
Join clubs
Go to events (like parties or meetups) and try to make friends
Make friends in video games

I'm in a similar boat to you, prefer my own company by a mile, am yet to meet someone irl as 'intense' as me, no one knows shit about world affairs, history, the economy etc, so I've sort of just given up with people and spend most of my time by myself, I enjoy it much more than I would spending time with others.

I picked up art as a pastime. It takes me away and lets me create something from scratch, it lets me flourish. Video games an reading are all well and fun but to me it's just that a fun distraction.

My art has gotten better everyday, I focus on it and make myself better. I make mistakes drawing, I love them, it teaches me to fix them and that no mistake is too small to fix. Men need to build things, create things and improve their surroundings.

Learn to hunt, buy a hunting rifle or any preferred weapon and learn to do what your ancestors did before the invention of modern agriculture.

Learn a coding language, build yourself a cryptocurrency rig. Get ahead of any kind of bubble dealing with a fiat currency. Make yourself a fortune.

Buy a car and learn how it works, tear it down and build it back up. Figure out how to make it better.

I'm learning how to draw, I want to make my own comic and tell a story. I want people to hear the story I want to tell.

Your a man, you have every resource available to you to make something new.

You just need things to care about and look forward to in life. That's the big secret to it all. Once you stop giving a shit about everything in your life that's when you get into dangerous territory.

You have to distinguish what you like from what you dislike. This is really important to ask yourself: What about it do I really dislike?

I find that with MGTOW we shun a lot of things that are harmless and enjoyable in an effort to avoid women. You can still enjoy many aspects of life without getting involved with women. It's a snowball effect. Relationships suck therefore women suck therefore working sucks therefore socializing sucks, etc, etc. We wade into this dangerous linkage without judging each activity on its own merits.

Once you've been exposed to the absolute misery and depression incurred in some relationships you may be miserable alone, but not so miserable as you were in the relationship. It puts things in perspective. Now, having said that, yes. I would vastly have preferred that my faithless lazy I'm-The-Victim! spouse had been a decent faithful hard working responsible woman. My father scored. I didn't. Luck of the draw I guess.

Hi, perhaps I can help.

First of all, you don't want to be completely alone. We have different gradations to everything in life, and we can take a lot more of something if we enjoy it. But if that would become the only available/existing thing in your life, even then you'll start disliking it eventually.

Wanting to be left alone is likely a result of an overdose of an environment status which doesn't appeal to you. In your case, that's college and not truly being able to have time to yourself (due to roommates). It's like when we want it to be winter when it's summer and vice versa once we experience the extremes of it. You could also listen to a song that you absolutely love over and over, but when listening to it for the 2873th time in a row you'd still get fed up of it whereas you could get fed up listening to a song for the 2nd time in a row if you don't like that song.

Humans are social creatures though, so we will always need some gradation of social interaction. Your solution is simple really: Just do what I do. I don't like spending much time with people either, especially if they are dumb in my opinion. Just hang in there until you can find a place of your own, find people (online or irl) who have the same interests as you, and then change your times to ~80% spending time on your own and ~20% socializing with those people.

Also, just consider this period you're going through as the effort you have to put in towards reaching that goal; then you'll feel even better about it once you do reach that desired point. You can only truly appreciate something when you are aware of the hardships that you had to overcome in order to reach it after all.

I enjoy my alone time however I also firmly believe that everything should be done in moderation. Humans are social creatures and if you are devoid of any and all social interactions then you are going to have a rough time. Solitary confinement in prisons is a serious form of torture for this specific reason.

I have a feeling that the current people that you have around you do not socialize in the way that you enjoy. You need to find friends that share like minds with yourself. Start adding people that you get matched with in multiplayer video games to start finding friends with similar interests. You can get most of your social needs through hanging out with people online and playing video games together.

I personally formed a hockey team with my friends and that makes the team sport aspect so much more fun since everyone on the team already knows each other. You can try getting your friends to do something similar.

I do a lot of Yoga and lift a lot of weights. Im in a constant state of trying to better myself and my body. Even when im not doing exercise or yoga i try to read non fictional stuff. Use this time to better yourself. In time of peace, prepare for war. Eventually this world will value people like us.

hey buddy. You are not alone. There are many people like yourself who just want to be left alone. I am an introvert too and I work in a place where I see 1000 people every day. Sometimes I come home and think of too much negative stuff. What helps is listening to stand up comedy shows and reading this sub. It is silly but I sometimes make funny faces in the mirror and laugh at myself :). It helps not to feel all depressed. Good luck

I found when I was feeling suicidal working out helps. Just make sure you have a goal. Since you're in college joining a workout club like kickboxing could be good. You are forced to socialize but its working out so you can always just put in earbuds if you don't want to be bothered. Since you are also improving your body and fight knowledge you don't feel stagnant and get less depressed.

OP, it helps to be good with people but it's not necessary to be a total extroverted people person. Think of it as a challenge to do steadily better at relating with people. Keep it to small doses and you might find you like it or bear it better that way. Yes, there are ways to be successful that aren't as dependent on relating with people. I work a job with headphones on most of the day. As an introvert, it's just my speed.

Regarding the depressive mood and suicidal thoughts: What is it that you're not getting out of life right now that you need? What is it about your path that doesn't sit well with you? I suggest you ponder a bit, be honest with yourself and take positive, incremental actions toward the goals that matter most to you. Be constructive and honest in your endeavors. Things will improve as you move along. Once you have hope and faith in your trajectory, your abilities and feel progress, everything changes gradually. You start seeing opportunities and not just problem after problem.

Being isolated is kinda why I love being a machinist.

I grab my prints, my metal pieces I need to work on, go to my machine and work. I could easily spend my entire 10 to 11hr shift isolated.

Going into IT (networks) which would also be mostly isolated and alone, little need to talk to anyone else.

Introverts: Being around people tend to EXHAUST and drain us. We are ENERGIZED by IDEAS, concepts, reading, being alone with our thoughts.
Extroverts are the opposite: They are energized by other people but are drained by ideas and being alone.

Introverts are a minority in the regular population but a majority in the gifted population.

75% of the population are extroverted. They outnumber us 3:1. However, 75% of the geniuses/gifted are introverted.

We excel at nearly all professions. ~70% of CEOs are introverted. ACTORS: most are introverts. Although this must seem strange because acting and performing seems so extroverted. It turns out introverts are much better analyzing their own internal emotions and then practicing their delivery.

"PEOPLE" is just a skill that can be learned with practice.
