He calls me 3 weeks ago and says he wants to open some options trade immediately worth 80k. I try to tell him to avoid it, but he says he decided to go forward.

I know from experience that the risk is very high with what he's trying to do, so I get a Sr. Manager involved. We call him from the conference rooms speakerphone to try to talk him out of it.

He claims "My wife does a lot of reading, she's well informed" and "I lost out many times by not listening to her".

We send him some risk docs and our written recommendation against it. He signs and we have no choice but to execute the trade.

When I called him last week to tell him the bad news (options expired and worthless), he tells me "well, she can't win em all".
