Wage gap explained.

[–]themanbat45 points46 points47 points 10 years ago (33 children) | Copy Link

Women simply shouldn't be hired for any physically demanding job, unless they can demonstrate that they can handle the workload. Women definitely shouldn't be hired for any job where strength and speed may save lives, because we should be looking for the fastest and strongest possible, not for the lowest acceptable level of applicant.

[–]mutantturkey29 points30 points31 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

it's not the workload, it's the extreme situations. Day to day it might not matter much, but when a drill rig falls on your buddy you damn well hope you got a couple of strong guys for some serious muscle

[–]Eab54314 points15 points16 points 10 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

She was hired to frisk females.

[–]Swanksterino[S] 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link

There are plenty of doors without women to frisk women. It's not a huge priority.

[–]Eab5439 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (24 children) | Copy Link

I understand. The guy was also hidden. She wasn't. I really do not blame her for freaking out at the sight of the gun. Plenty of things to be pissed at women over. I can easily forgive panic.

[–]GuidoBandito9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And just like all the memes point out, men dive into danger and risk dying to protect others. Women run away. AWALT. This is a visible, real world example of AWALT.

To be honest, there are probably a few men in that very room that would run. But the video lays out what about 99.9% of women will do.

That bouncer who ran into the situation, I just hope he resolved it with minimal or no injuries to himself. Commendable job on his part.

[–]Eab5432 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

For sure. He's one brave sob.

[–]Swanksterino[S] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Not when you asked for the job. She asked for that job

[–]Eab5432 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

I am MGTOW brother. I'm just saying I can see why she panicked. Flight or fight is a really powerful response. The real monster here is that fuck with the gun.

[–]Swanksterino[S] 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Dude you said the same thing 5 times, I get it

[–]Eab5434 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

No need to be a dick.

[–]Swanksterino[S] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

[–]KelaasmGFY2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

125 days too late, but in case you're still here, I agree with your point and that guy was being a douche.

[–]tearyouapart0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I hate how she doesn't warn anyone as she runs out. Probably because they would get in her way

[–]Eab5430 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I ordered a car tire off amazon recently. When it was delivered at my residence, the female UPS truck driver complained to me about what a pain it was getting it off the truck. It was just a tire, no box or anything. If lifting a single tire is a struggle, maybe you shouldn't work as a delivery driver for UPS.

[–]NAmember8115 points16 points17 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I've had more than one gf so far that wasn't strong enough to operate an electronic "cricket click-it" lighter.

Even using two hands, they couldn't for the life of them push the lighter button down. Lol

I wish I was joking but I'm being 100% serious.

[–]themanbat10 points11 points12 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hand and grip strength is one of the most obvious points of sexual dimorphism. Women can specifically train their hands for years and sill be weaker than an average Joe who didn't work out.

[–]mrdouchy2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True, but you forgot "mentally demanding" as well.

[–]BevTheManFromDownUnd0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I worked at a gas station once, lots of night shifts. My boss told me that if someone came in with a weapon, don't be a hero - give them all the cash and stay alive. That's god damn right.

What kind of a fucking moron risks their life for minimum wage? You can bet your ass nobody in this video is getting paid enough to fight armed psychopaths. And her wage definitely doesn't support any kind of combat training. I'm glad that guy got the drop on the gunman, but getting paid minimum wage with no training and no weapon doesn't require that you be an incredibly brave and selfless warrior. She probably just kicks out drunk assholes now and then - a completely reasonable job.

For all we know she was rushing to her marksman friend who has a gun in her purse. And that dude could have gotten his ass killed.

[–]Fl333r30 points31 points32 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But dude. She hauled ass and left. Clearly she didn even shout a warning to all the innocent people standing around her because none of them ran. She left them all to die. No one is blaming her for refusing to be bulletfodder but she does deserve shame for leavinf everyone else to die when all it would take is a single RUN.

When have men ever been able to rely on a woman for safety/protection? I mean ever? Even with power - Thatcher? couldnt give less than 2 shits about the armed forces or miners, Merkel? subjects her population to hordes of foreign criminals, Clinton?! HA!

[–]Swanksterino[S] 15 points16 points17 points 10 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

It's an absolute joke, those are instances I had not even considered.

[–]Trump_Up_Your_Life22 points23 points24 points 10 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Italy, Albania, Germany, Norway, and the Netherlands all have female defense ministers and they're flooding the countries with violent invaders.

The first female director of the US Secret Service allowed a fence jumper to breach security and make it all the way to the East Room at the White House. She also allowed an armed man to ride in an elevator with the president.

Pierson also rejected an internal study’s recommendations that the White House have a total of about 100 countersurveillance officers to patrol the perimeter of the complex. She suggested cutting the recommended number by a third.

Pierson, who was “irate” at what she considered excessive security measures for this summer’s U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit, said that “We need to be more like Disney World. We need to be more friendly, inviting.” Pierson had worked as a Disney costumed character during high school.

The left will lie and tell you everyone is the same ... everyone is not the same. Different races have vastly different IQs and genetic predisposition to violence, and the two genders have vastly different abilities. When it comes to security, women are terrible. Women cannot identify threats nor react to threats as well as men. Men are designed to allocate resources, protect, and lead with rationality, women are designed to nurture, civilize, and empathize. We're all better off for the specialization.

[–]Swanksterino[S] 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Wow, you made my point much more fairly, and succinctly, I completely agree.

[–]Greetings14 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

genetic predisposition to violence.

This is ridiculous. Let me guess. Black people are more prone to violence than whites? Depending on how you're raised and where you're raised yes. Genetically no.

[–]stawek5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Some native New Zealanders have a gene that increases aggressive behaviours.

A theory that black people might be predisposed to violence is not ridiculous (unless you're sjw). It could be white, asian or whatever. What IS ridiculous is discarding a theory without a second tohught because you don't like it.

It is most likely true that nurture trumps nature when it comes to antisocial behaviours, but there could be genetic factors. Ridiculing the idea instead of checking it is what feminists do.

[–]loddfavne1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sometimes political agendas wins over science. They mean well, but in USA there are too many black guys in jail. And its racist to point it out. Sweeping the problem under the rug instead of solving it before the legal system has to get involved. Think prevention, not incarseration.

[–]Greetings18 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm black. You know nothing about me and assume I'm predisposed to kill someone or steal shit. It all depends on how your raised and what environment you are raised. There are no genetic markers for violence. That would imply my parents are violent or all my relatives are violent which is absolutely untrue. I see what you are trying to say, but you don't know how to say it. If you say that a large percentage of black people are raised in unhealthy environments that breed violence and thus gets them incarcerated then yes that's true. But saying they gave genetic tendencies means you are saying there is a marker in my DNA like eye color that make me more animalistic and violent than the average white guy. Which is insane because I'm six foot three and 150 pounds with no violent bone in my body. Learn to state facts correctly. We're not feminists who base their ideas of feels.

[–]Swanksterino[S] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Talk to the guy who said it.

[–]clayticus0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

IQ does play a significant role in decision making especially longterm decisions. When correlated for iq blacks and whites with the same iq had about the same crime rate. Same with Asians who have an over all significant lower crime rate than whites.

[–]Greetings12 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

So crime Lords who embezzle money are low IQ? There are no smart criminals? That is a nonsense study.

[–]clayticus0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

In general l, of course there are exceptions to the rule. The majority of criminals are not the brightest

[–]Greetings14 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If there are enough exceptions, then the "rule" is bullshit. And trust me, there are more than enough exceptions. Its how and where you're raised that majorly determined the kind of person you are going to be. Not skin color. The race-IQ implies people like michael jackson get smarter when their skill color changes. That's ridiculous.

Thatcher caused the death of 255 British men serving in the armed forces during the Falkland conflicts. Over what exactly?

Exactly what value does the Falkland's provide the UK, a fucking tiny colony of 2,932(2012).

And that bitch had a big mouth regarding Rhodesia too. And how the fuck is it possible that I'm Rhodesian yet cannot get a British passport? Thank you Thatcher.

[–]dalef775 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Over 4,000 American soldiers died in the Iraq War, which was billed by George W. Bush, as an effort to capture the "weapons of mass destruction" (WMD) possessed by Saddam Hussein. This war began in 2003 and as of 2016, no WMD have been found.

There is also the Vietnam War, which many Americans opposed and feel was a waste, which was started and continued under male leaders.

When it comes to war, men can be just as stupid, short-sighted, callous, evil, etc. as women.

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points25 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Fuck that. I'm not risking my life over a job.

[–]Swanksterino[S] 14 points15 points16 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I totally get that. So, you turn and run, fine, but also pushing people out of the way while you do?

And incidentally, did you apply for and take a job as security for a Bar?

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Nah, I haven't, but I doubt the contract would say something like 'stand up against an armed man'.

And yes, she entered panic mode pushing everyone else. There's something natural about it though, women are needed to have babies, therefore a lower panic treshold would be a good evolutionary trait, and men, being stronger physically would be braver to defend them.

[–]Swanksterino[S] 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hey man, make all the excuses you want. The natural response is fine, if you hadn't stepped up and said you would ensure other people's security first.

By you analogy I'm pretty sure the contract didn't say "in dangerous situation, shove patrons out of the way, abandon post, then reevaluate assess the situation.

You act like she was forced to do that job. She asked for it. I agree with you, men do it better, so leave it to men.

[–]Mgtowredpillonroids24 points25 points26 points 10 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Whereas I love the difference portrayed here, one should point out that an unarmed security guard at some bar is not obligated to risk his life against an armed thug. Not enough dough, training or equipment to handle the situation the way he did. Something to be respected, sure. But not what can be expected/demanded of him.

[–]Swanksterino[S] 19 points20 points21 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

It was only that one wanted everyone to think they were something, and another one who was actually something.

[–]Mgtowredpillonroids7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Basically what I was saying in the first sentence ;). Just saying it from the perspective of someone who has worked in security (soccer arena). The measly 6.50 I was making per hour wouldn't justify me risking my life against an armed thug. I'm totally willing to do that, but then provide me with the proper training, weapon and wage. It was just a side-job anyway. But I can understand why the woman didn't want to risk her life. Like I said, respect to the dude, but I can understand both actions. Security in that kind of environment doesn't include dealing with armed thugs. It's for preventing or intervening in the classical bar fight, not to stop some robber. Just like my job was to prevent ppl from entering off limits areas, coordinating evacuation etc. A guard at a bank is supposed to do more than that - and he has the training and a service weapon for that.

[–]Swanksterino[S] 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That woman pushed people out of the way.

I totally see your, not being a 'hero' myself either, just pointing out the difference, as you already observed.

Point taken, thanks for the input.

[–]Mgtowredpillonroids10 points11 points12 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She was totally storming away in a panic. Pretty much shows that she was unfit for the job in the first place. I'll give you that one.

I totally get it man, I very much doubt you would push peole out of your way before warning them. I'm not saying the woman did the wrong thing for herself, I'm saying she could have told people before she ran.

[–]TedTheAtheist0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm in L.A. too! Greetings! I stay in side, fixing computers. :) I thought about getting my guard card for side jobs, but.. never did.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

when someone has a gun, more people have to understand that the proper response sometimes isn't to run... it's to fight back.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

because if the person is bloody thirsty, running is how you get shot in the back.

[–]Pragmataraxia1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Important caveat: DO run from a knife.

[–]mojo_juju5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Anyone who thinks it's smart to NOT RUN from someone walking down a hallway with a gun, is a fucking idiot, regardless of your sex.

You don't approach someone carrying a gun from the end of a hallway, especially when it's the perfect range for the gun.

The solution is to approach them like the bouncer in white did: from a perpendicular position, so that you maximize the rotation the shooter has to make if he's going to point it at you, giving you maximum time and angle of attack to counter the threat. It being in that position allows you to grab the gun from the side, forcefully.

This female would have done nothing but get shot if she tried to do anything but run. The bouncer in white was in the perfect position to grab the gun from the side. Everything here appears to have worked out just fine.

Good design for a club entry, btw. Something to consider for anyone who owns or works at a club-- suggest the owner watch this video and consider ways to give the bouncers the most defensible positions (from a close quarters combat perspective).

So when I message the mods to politely ask why (hi mods!) which of the rules will they use as justification?

Rule 4. Posts which result in harassment of any individual, subreddit, or other entity may be removed at the moderators' discretion. (not broken)

Rule 5. No Politics (stretching it but this is my bet)

Or this handy catch-all:

I'll go with the 'bigotry/hate speech/offensive' option.

It's the line they used yesterday when they censored the shit out of r/news

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh yes the reddit mods don't believe in free speech , I got banned in multiple subs for comments which Were not very controversial In my opinion . They are too controlling , I need a new website .

[–]NefariousRaccoon2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not surprised.

[–]FleshPanda2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Imagine a similar situation, but on the battlefield.

[–]dalef772 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

On the battlefield, a soldier, whether male or female, should be trained and equipped for battle.

With this female security guard, she may not have been trained to deal with armed individuals and she may not have been provided the means, namely her own gun, to defend herself.

[–]FleshPanda0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well bouncers aren't gonna pack heat, but I was speaking to her nature.

[–]Swanksterino[S] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Totally, or even better, your injured and someone needs to pull you to safety, I mean I couldn't do it, but I never said I could either.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Now imagine women on the field with this mindset....

[–]BevTheManFromDownUnd2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I've seen this time and again in policing. Women officers working the beat, yet can't handle shit without a man around.

Now I'm just saying, it's a job that requires a certain amount of brute force - if you don't have it, find another job.

I'm not a watch smith, neither a piano player ffs.

[–]Swanksterino[S] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly,

[–]cynicalsimon2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I've seen tons of these videos where female security guards, police officers and general security personal don't do anything when a real situation arises. what do you expect? their pampered their whole lives and when shit hits the fan, they either cry like pathetic little children or they act irrational . obviously, a situation with a gun is another story, but the fact that she just blatantly ran the other direction, didn't look back and abandoned everything..what the fuck

[–]Swanksterino[S] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ikr, it's just ridiculous.

[–]Swanksterino[S] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She didn't even go back to help him

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Guys i actually got banned on this sub with my old account for " sexist comments" , Reddit has become too PC. I feel I have to tiptoe around what I say or else some power hungry mod will ban me. They ban for any comment that's thought provoking , I need a new website that believes in free speech .

[–]Swanksterino[S] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Uh, wut?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well there's a difference between "free speech" in law and free speech online. In law the government isn't allowed to target you for things you say and believe. That's very important, but online everyone has their own standards and private clubs.

It should be pretty clear that a subreddit doesn't believe in free speech online whatsoever when the first rule is not allowing any "bullshit". This is an obvious license to ban absolutely whatever. No standards or objectivity. I stumbled here through serendipity bot... kind of hard to believe the kinds of places people choose to spend their time. It's always a fun experiment to tread carefully and see what gets you banned.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Lmao oh god didn't even notice , how professional and precise " no bullshit" way to go mods way to go.

[–]Zulban0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it's cute that they made a rule list. It's as if they recognize that people value clear rules for subreddits. But then they don't understand how absolutely moronic their "banned for bullshit" rule is. Why even have a rule list at all..? It's very silly.

It's a shame really... if I understand this subreddit correctly, it's a place where dudes bitch about men's rights issues. The shame is that there is progress to be made here - like allowing men to opt out of parental obligations if a mother can still have a safe abortion. Subreddits like this make passing those laws a fuck ton harder. At least from what I've seen here.

In any case... real interesting find, serendipity bot ;)

Equal pay ?

[–]Guitarchim0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I remember this was on the front page of Reddit before and a lot of the comments were actually trying to defend her actions.

[–]Swanksterino[S] 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

There's a surprising number here. Look, I don't blame her for acting like that, I might have too. But I never asked to be in Security either. I know what my strengths are, does she?

[–]Guitarchim2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. When you decide to be a security guard there are certain responsibilities that come with the job. She probably felt like it was all just checking IDs and kicking drunk people out. Well she learned fast that that's not all that comes with the job.

[–]Zulban2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

But I never asked to be in Security either.

Do you think it said "willing to fight armed gunmen, while unarmed" in the job description?

She kicks out drunk assholes from time to time for minimum wage. No training or equipment. She is not a combat soldier in a warzone. Anyone who thinks it's their duty to do so because they wear a t-shirt like that is a fucking moron. Their ego is being taken advantage of by club owners.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fat North Atlantic Cheeseburger Whale doesn't want her fat female self to be put in danger and careens her multi ton body out of danger. How typical.

[–]aanarchist0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

she couldn't even be bothered to say anything to warn anyone, she just straight up bolted. meanwhile the bro who was just there to have a good time went to town.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

she ran to go get the real (male) security which is about all she'd be good for in that instance (e.g. not much more value than if she were just a patron)

[–]JapaneseStudentHaru0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This is ridiculous. Security guards don't make near enough money to run head on into an armed assailant. It was his choice to do something, but most people would run. It was smart for her to run. I highly doubt she even received training to disarm an armed man. The only reason you posted this is because she's a woman. There are plenty of men who would do the same thing.

Let me ask, why did you post it in the first place? Do you think you would go up to a guy with a gun and risk losing your life in the same situation? Security guards are not cops. They're hired to try and deescalate situations and call the cops. They aren't heroes, they get paid very little. She probably has just as much combats training as you, little to none. I've dated guys who worked security. They even tell you to walk away when shit gets rough and call the cops.

[+]ZeQueenZ-13 points-12 points-11 points 10 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

They both did the right thing imo. She sounded the alarm to get back up and warm people, he came from the side with a preventative measure. The club could also have a policy where the females are to check females and males males. She may not have been trained in close combat.

[–]Swanksterino[S] 16 points17 points18 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She has a shirt that says "SECURITY", not "SECURITY for women only".

1) She didn't warn anyone, she ran the hell away, pushing other patrons aside.

2) Men do not need help with disorderly women, only cops, bouncers are not cops. The laws are different when you are on private property.

3) So you're telling me if it was a woman with a gun, then she would've stepped up. Ridiculous, a gun is a gun whether a man is holding it or not.

My point was she was the one posing as security, with a shirt that says it loudly. The guy doesn't care what you think he is, you'll find out when it is time.

[–]jargonoid11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I see no indication of an alarm other than running away with her tail between her legs.

Sure, but does that policy include running away when someone of the other sex walks in the door?

A security guard who isn't trained in close combat? Yeah that's a great idea.

She saw a threat and saved herself. He saw the same threat and saved everyone else.

[–]ZeQueenZ-1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It looks to me like she is shouting something as she is moving away from the door. Her face alone is enough, do you see how the other bodies go on alert as she enters. I imagine it's loud in there too.

[–]mgtow_eagle8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

She served no purpose whatsoever as a security guard. The big guy spotted him purely by chance.

[–]TheUniverseis2D4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

She's the security guard. You sound like a white knight doing some mental gymnastics to justify the pathetic behavior of a woman.

[–]ZeQueenZ0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I believe the guy on the stool is security too. I am sure she is wearing the shirt so the women coming in know she is doing her job frisking. This is typical for night clubs.

[–]mrp_18441 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Women need to be frisked? Please explain.

[–]ZeQueenZ2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, women are frisked at many events by women including airport, night clubs, concerts, sporting events. At airports, I prefer to get frisked instead of going through the detectors to lessen radiation exposure. This can be requested. They don't send children through for the same reason.

Everyone gets frisked and searched, it wouldn't be fair to frisk only the men. Woman are capable of carrying weapons.
