Here's where guys who believe in the soul mate myth start to go wrong: when a girl starts telling him that she loves him, his brain actually entertains the possibility of that being true, which leads him to drop more and more frame over time as he tries to secure the love of his newly found unicorn.

It's natural that the beta/soul-mate-myth-believer should have this response. After all, he believes that it is possible to find a woman who truly and unconditionally loves him for who he is, and now that he begins to believe that this new girl may actually be that woman, he begins to slowly but surely revert to his beta male state as he clamors for this new love, eventually repulsing his woman in the process and ruining the relationship while actually thinking he was "deepening" it the whole time. The real problem here is that the woman may very well love him, but a female's love is much different than that of the unicorn that beta males believe in; a female's love is fleeting and highly conditional on the man retaining his alpha characteristics. This misunderstanding of how women love leads betas and men with weak frame to initiate the downward spiral of frame-dropping death when they start believing that the girl they're fucking actually loves them, and that's why you should never believe a girl when she says "I love you". Treating "I love you"s as conspiracy theories is a very effective way to dismiss the soul mate myth, hold frame in a relationship, and avoid beta-backsliding into a love-seeking chump.
