I will never understand why some men seemingly "live to work" rather than "work to live". These are the guys who have no problems working salaried jobs pulling excessive overtime, either because they have nothing else interesting going on in their lives, or they are money-hungry, or they lack the necessary abundance mentality to get a new job.
Even though they make more money, they don't even have the free time to enjoy it. Too bad? Or perhaps they are saving for an early retirement. Great job, you can retire at an age well past your physical and mental prime, which you squandered away working. You hate your job because your boss overworks you, but you're too afraid to walk away? Now your boss has too much power over your life because you lack abundance mentality. And your boss will accordingly treat you like the door mat you are.
It's good to like your job, and it's good to make money so you can spend your free time pursuing activities that raise your SMV and bring you pleasure. But spending too much time focusing on one component of your SMV will not yield you maximum results. It's all about balance. How can you lift if you're spending all your potential free time working? How can your game improve if you're spending all your time focusing on your hobbies instead of practicing game on women? How can you afford to pursue any hobbies that improve your social status if you're broke?
Personally, what works best for me is a 40 hr/week job without any travel, that pays me well enough to afford a sweet bachelor pad and to be able to toss enough money into my 401k while still having some cash savings and spending cash on the side. It gives me enough free time and money to get adequate sleep, to lift, to chill with my girl, and pursue my hobbies and/or hang with friends.
But like all aspects of SMV, landing the right job that can do all of those things for you takes a lot of hard work.
Lessons learned: Work to live, don't live to work. Have abundance mentality. Improving your SMV is a never-ending balancing act that will make getting laid easier.
