Yeah from what I've seen (online so take with an extra grain of salt) alot of women there are like how they are here (orbiters, financial control of the man, only sleeping with the top, etc.) But men have been walking away for decades, they (feminist) don't harp about it because they don't think it's a problem (yet). But whenever the government gets involved they rule with old school tradition.

Thanks? If I was writing longer it would become more noticeable. Granted the teachers I had nocked of 1% for every spelling error, punctuation error, and page structure errors. They didn't care that I have dyslexia auto correct has helped alot.

Dude, I was there for a month and I spent probably 2+ hours a day studying the language, just so I wouldn't be an absolutely useless cunt. Just 95% useless. I can't imagine being there for 10 years and not speaking the language. But I know what you're saying is true. Because people. They don't assimilate well.

Oh trust me its much worse than you can imagine. I am effectively native level fluent in Japanese. Thats not some kind of brag its just true. All my contact every day is done in Japanese from business meetings to simple emails. I literally have to correct my Japanese colleagues emails all the time because their keigo usage is fucking whack. Literally took a reading test at work the other day and acored higher than the average Jap uni grad. Being on this forum is the only time I use English.
Yet Im the only white guy here I know who can do this. I know people who have lived here ten years and cant speak a word of the language. Ive had numerous times where Ive interviewed Western people working as English professors (not English teachers who are a completely different breed) at Japanese unis and they couldnt speak for shit. I just dont get it. Its such a fucking logical language. The start is tough but when youre used to it you can pick up on the little things straight away. For emple a couple years ago my coworker said to me δΌθζ₯ a word I didnt know but I immediately understood it. A day you rest your liver I. E. A day without drinking
Sorry no idea where Im going with this. The point Im trying to make is Ive lived here 5 years now and 99% of the white guys Ive met are completely incompetent at the language. Of the 1% ones who are competent only 1% are anywhere close to fluent. If you speak Japanese fluently your opportunities here are end less. Heck i was a part time hacker with no qualifications 3 years ago but got hired because I had some experience and knew how to hack and was fluent in Japanese. Now Im a qualified pentester with multiple years experience and multiple qualifications. And moving jobs again will be easy cos English. If youre fluent in English and Japanese you can literally get any job here really damn quick. The only languages worth learning now are Chinese and Japanese as they dont speak English and no whites speak their language. I could literally forget all my hacking skills and be guaranteed a job tomorrow. Knowing an eastern asian language fluently is a gold mine

Not that guy, but like anything, put in work and you will get results. Japanese classes tend to go 100x slower than you can go yourself if you have motivation and drive. At my university they taught the kana over several weeks. I learned them in a day. And that isn't me trying to pump myself up; I'm nothing special. Point being, even if you take classes to hold yourself accountable to some sort of required, structured learning, I would recommend going beyond that and learning more on your own. You will progress so much faster that way. And nothing makes you wanna keep putting work in than seeing fast results.

The point is number 1 is drive. I studied 4 hours a day for years. 10 kanji, 30 new vocab, a few grammar points as well as tonnes of revision. Tbh I did Japanese for 4 years at uni and I learned nothing from classes. I learned it all by myself. The biggest thing is interaction with native material. One of the biggest skills I have that most dont is I speak to a native level be it a business meeting with a client or taking the piss at the bar. This is because from the start I went out of my way to find Japanese people on skype etc and talk in japanese. Its Also why the Japanese professors I know suck. Theres a guy who is head of Japanese at oxford who I had a meeting with in Japanese once. Cant speak it. His skills in classical Japanese are amazing but he cant speak it. Why? He never has the chance to. Similarly read Japanese news papers and novels, with films if you can put on Japanese subtitles. Make everything immersive. Note though if you read a lot of novels youll end up knowing words Japanese people dont know haha. Remember one book I read had the word δΈγγγγΎγ‘ in which I learned and I have met 2 people who actually know what it means. But in general its a mix of drive and interaction with native material and people

All jokes aside, I agree wholeheartedly with your disdain for people who are in the country and make no effort to learn. Achieving native-level fluency is very difficult, but reaching general fluency or even the level it takes to hold everyday conversation is by no means a Herculean task. Anyone who refuses to put forth even a bare minimum effort yet expects the natives to actually respect them is stupid as shit.
Haha trust me theres so many little rules that even Japanese are terrible at it. They have to read books about it to learn just like us. Even then I spot little mistake (we have to check each others emails before sending, what a fucking point less waste of time but hey its Japan)

I've thought about sitting down and becoming fluent in the language here in America, but I've got an "in" to return if I want and I was gonna try it this year, but things got wonky.
I've been using Coronatime to get a 2nd Bachelors for free. You ever accidentally get a 2nd Bachelors? Jesus.

Exactly the fucking same. Im no hypocrite. I fucking despise the paki cunts who come into the UK and dont assimilate. However as I am white and have standards I hold myself to those. I only came here after 8 years studying the language and having an N1. Now all my friends are Japanese, we all chill together, at work Im just one of the guys despite the odd English joke (to which ill throw some anti Jap joke back at them), and am very much pretty well accepted. Heck I even talk with my Japanese friends about how fucking much we hate English teachers. Yet Im called a racist for expecting dumb foreigners to follow the standards I myself adhere to when in a country that is graciously allowing me to stay there. If I can learn Japanese, which is vastly different from English, to live in Japan, you can at least learn English, which is very similar to Spanish, to live in an English speaking country.
This is why the talk is hilarious to me. I spent 8 years of my life studying 4 hours a day to learn Japanese to a native level.because of that I now have the reward of living and working here. Yet me saying mexicans who dont learn English (which would take 1~2 years tops for a Spanish soeaker) are lazy and should fuck off makes me racist? Fuck off nobjockey is all I can say
English teachers in Japan are pathetic. They dont "teach" English and have no teaching degrees. Theyre just white people paid to come over and act like a dancing monkey and repeat whatever the real English teacher (a Japanese person) says in native English. They do a meaningless job that uses up our taxpayer money (there are gov programs for this), never learn the language, act like 5 year olds and bitch about everything. Theyre the absolute bottom tier for foreigners in Japan. Even the Nepalese guy at the 7/11 is above them as he speaks SOME Japanese

I don't think I've ever been in a store longer than 10 minutes. And only that long if there's a wait at the cashier. I can't fathom how the fuck a woman can spend an hour in a store - and that's when she's hurrying. Leaving a trail of misplaced items as well, since they can never make up their mind they just randomly take stuff out of their cart and place it in the wrong section. Even as a young child, watching my mother get a pound of cheese at the deli counter in a grocery store, then put it on a shelf next to tissue paper 5 minutes later, I was like "wtf...?" There's so much wrong with women, my god...

My grocery store serves some older, very well off, spoiled women and I swear to god they must be fucking blindfolded when they go in there. None of them seems to be aware of what's going on around them and constantly bump into shit. They stand in the middle of the aisle like turned off their power and they just...stand.
The only thing that has changed since Corona is they were a mask and you can see the fear in their eyes if they think you're going to get too close. My ex gf would spend an hour minimum in any store. She could spend an hour in a portable toilet if there was a store ever made that size. I finally got to where I would set the timer on my phone for 20 minutes when I went into a store with her. After the 20 minutes I went out to the car whether she was done or not. This infuriated her because it meant she had to pay for everything. So she was left with either shop efficiently under 20 minutes Or pay for everything!

Find me a woman who doesn't dawdle, get distracted, or lose focus on time management because she "got carried away" in the middle of working and forgot about the next steps that needed to be taken. I play a game sometimes called "How long will it take her" where I see just how long it takes a woman to complete a simple task like exiting a vehicle once it's parked. I have yet to see a woman exit a vehicle in less than 1 minute after parking. Men usually take about 10 seconds by comparison.
And shopping? Shit how many times do you see a woman trundling along, leaning over the handlebar of the shopping cart because even standing up to support herself and walk normally is too much work, walking in the middle of the aisle, usually shoulder-to-shoulder with another waddle-walker and moving so slow and oblivious to others because they're busy talking about something meaningless.
