Most women put more effort in their appearance.

Now obviously there are men who also put effort in how they look, but the percentage of women who do it is much greater than the percentage of men.

And by more effort, I mean all the effort into doing makeup, doing weird shit with eyebrows & all, maintaining their hair, having a good fashion sense and knowing what clothes fit them and flatter them. Things like this. Most men are not super into grooming & clothes, and I think this holds them back. Women are able to optimise their SMV by this, while men are not.

PS: I am a man and I am myself not into grooming a lot. Just do the basics. Just an observation.
