Disclaimer: I love getting advice on RPW. It has really helped me improve my relationship with my fiancé that has been in trouble before. As much I respect advice from women here, I also know that some strangers on Reddit (it's not women exclusively here on RPW) don't come with with sincerity and the anonymity of internet gives them the keyboard warrior armour and there are no boundaries when giving personal advice. Let's be kind to one another, we're all trying to improve out relationships, single lives, habits. And we all know that life is one hell of a ride and it's all a learning process.

Problem: About 6 months ago I posted on the forum looking for advice on how to fix an imbalanced relationship that turned me into the person I despised. I knew it will take months, maybe a year to fix. And taking a lot of sound advice by truly honest people, I have made decent changes in my relationship. I really have tried. I am happy with the improvements we've made, my fiancé got another job that has been keeping us financially better, I have worked excessively on becoming a better partner, taking up less work, focusing on the house being clean and lovely - like it should be. But we still struggle financially as it is not easy during quarantine, but then... We began spending more time with my fianceés best friend.

Here is the simple premise. I see so many flaws in my fiancé in comparison to his friend. It makes perfect sense: I know my future husband better than anyone, and of course I will see his bad sides.

My partner doesn't have a degree and we rent a small apartment. His best friend, on the other hand, has done the math on finances, has invested in a new home in the suburbs and is financially stable, living in surplus. My partner doesn't have a full-time job in his passion field. His best friend - is so intellectual and loved in his serious professional field, a high position in the housing business that he got after graduating an expensive UNI. We often struggle financially. His best friend lives alone and can afford to have a live-in partner, and wants one too.

My partner doesn't have the same intellectual passions as I do, yet I can talk to his best friend about books and self improvement, fitness and philosophy for hours. I can not get my partner to read books or talk about smart subjects. His best friend LOVES the stuff I bake and jokingly calls my partner spoiled because he sees me doing all of the housework. The best friend is a passionate fitness junkie and he is helping me with my injuries, but my partner still struggles bettering his eating habits and weight loss. I have been begging my fiancé to finish his driving license (he has not finished his final driving exam after 5 years!!!) so we can do grocery trips, explore the country and feel limitless, but his best friend drives us around when we go visit and is such a good driving instructor, he could be teaching me and I would get the license before my partner.

I sometimes break down, still struggle motivating my partner to do things around the house I have begged him to do for months (drilling, putting up the drapes, fixing the hole in the sink he broke months ago, taking out the old couch that takes up too much space, etc). I see that his best friend is always so... appreciative of every little thing I do when we visit, which I understand - he is a single man and is not used to this treatment. And it makes me so mad at myself that I feel this way - comparing.

I love my partner. I focus on the negative because women want the better version of their man, but I know the positive about my partner too: he is super creative and SUPER talented in music, while his friend wishes he was talented in a creative field. Partner is so excited to be a dad at his 25 years, really happy seeing kids. My partner is a very kind, emotional person. I feel like I don't have to compromise my personality and my sexuality (despite the fact that my sex drive barely exists). My partner gets along with my father because they share a passion together. My mother adores my partner because he has a good heart and possesses that sincerity only our parents feel about the people we bring into the home. But we will never be 'rich', We will never be financially successful because neither of us have degrees, and I am not able to get one yet due to my language and country I am in.

His best friend sees me with a huge smile (and I think he really is fond of me, caring for me so much more than his other friends), and asks me where to find women like me. This is the only friend that has actually developed a friendship with me. I see myself wanting to be with a man like him. It is so stupid. I am a little jealous of the girl that his best friend likes (because there is no relationship happening and he can do better). I catch myself thinking about his best friend in more than a friends' way in some stupid dreams at night. It makes me sad, I want it to stop. I feel guilty.

I have tried to become a better person for my partner to follow suit, I am motivating him to run with me, eat healthier, I clean the apartment when I work from home and cater to his needs. I bake stuff he likes. I pick him up from work. We plan our days together. But I just can not make peace with the fact that I made a choice: being with a talented, kind, humble man, getting engaged, when I did not realise that I could be having a better financed life with an intellectual man who is all about my passions and talents.

Please help me become a better person, but please be sincere. I already feel like I am emotionally torn. Give me sound advice without being unnecessarily hurtful because I really take advice to heart and want to come out learning something, making changes for a better life.
