In my opinion, it's too soon to cook a meal for him, at your place. There's really no way to do so without his thinking he'll get something more afterward and redirecting to ice cream could come across as sort of an accidental tease. I'd suggest preparing a delicious portable picnic or making some baked goods to show your potential for GF skills, without giving him the wrong impression.

Cooking for him is something that should be saved until you've committed, because it's actually a really intimate and special thing to do for someone. That's just my opinion though.

You could tell him you'd like to cook for him sometime? That way he'll know you're the nurturing type and where your intentions lie.

But don't feel the need to rush anything at this point - just enjoy your time together and getting to know one another. :)

I agree with Kara_El. Cooking a man dinner is a pretty forward/intimate gesture. It can often imply after-dinner "dessert" which you don't seem to want. Also, men are not stupid. Most of them know that when you are going out of your way to cook for them in that capacity, your trying to demonstrate girlfriend qualities, so this could end up coming off too strong too soon. I also think that baked goods (for a special occasion), or a more casual picnic outing is a good way to demonstrate your cooking abilities without it being over the top. One of the very first dates my husband and I had was a picnic where I made a couple things, and he brought wine.

I didn’t cook for my then boyfriend (now husband) for like... months and months down the road. And it was just hamburger helper. LOL!

But ya, packing a picnic to a public park is GREAT! He’s not at your place thinking he may get a little somethin’ somethin’ but you’re still making him food.

Very interesting to see the responses here. I actually cooked for my LTR on our 3rd date. And I'm the man. She thought it was very sweet, but then again we were both ready for what happened afterward, and it seems you aren't prepared to go that far just yet. That said, I don't think there'd be anything wrong with cooking for him. Cooking is not equivalent to giving it up, and if he's only kissed you once by now, I doubt he's in any rush (more aggressive men will round the bases by date 2-3).

The thing about inviting him to your home for dinner, though, is I think it does signal an interest in more personal intimacy. So you have to ask yourself if you feel prepared to be more intimate -- not necessarily sex, but certainly more than a peck goodnight after dinner. I don't think there'd be anything wrong with cuddling/making out a bit on the couch while you watch a movie after dinner, and I highly doubt he's going to have a problem with only getting that, as it's still a step forward with respect to the intimacy you two are able to share. I'd try to avoid bringing him into your bedroom, though, as that would probably send the wrong signal and end up becoming an unintentional tease.

Stop the silliness. If you want him over then have him over. Nothing substantial is gonna change by waiting more dates. It's all games, gestures, and facades if you think along those lines.
