Why do you need this guy to give you permission to walk away from the relationship?

A lot of things in my life also fell apart brutally in 2019, including what I thought was a pretty solid relationship that sadly went from us thriving to us being toxic together. He’s trying to come back - I’m not having it for my mental health.

Would you rather put up with this guys nonsense just so his ex can’t have him back?

My ex also went back to his ex (I suspect their little rebound didn’t work) and though i was horrified and shook at first, over the weeks I came to think: she can have him (because he sucks). But also, I came to accept that (he’s also pretty great in a lot of things) and maybe they are just a better match than him and I, maybe their bond is stronger so ✌️ why would I want to be somebody’s plan B? Why would I want second best?

You need to accept that there will be temporary discomfort for a long term benefit. He will say anything to guilt trip you and keep himself in a comfortable position. He is an emotional leech. Stand up for your future self.

Don't worry about this whole 2020 thing. It's arbitrary. Don't waste the entire year for a couple weeks of mistakes. The point is to constantly work towards a goal, not beat yourself up over some mistakes.

If someone doesn't want you to leave he should ask about your reasons instead of delving in self-pity and complaining the fact that you want to leave.

Don't let him guilt trip you as it is very obvious that he is acting like an angry child. You are not responsible for balancing any of his faults by compensating his childish behavior.

Yes, it might be unpleasant for him that you leave, but it is decision to make you feel even more uncomfortable by trying to guilt trip you. A grown up person would not try to convince someone to stay in an unpleasant situation by making the situation even more unpleasant. He is a manchild and you are not responsible for his decisions.

He could choose to think about a solution for what makes you want to leave. He doesn't, he chooses to blame you.

One should never discuss with children, drunk people or menchildren. For a reason. They are not accountable and you will drive yourself crazy when you try to take them serious 😉

My ex fiancee use to play exactly this game that he's trying to play with you. Six years of my life that I wish I hadn't wasted. Please don't let him guilt trip you or manipulate you which is exactly what he's doing. Don't play his game and try not to let your ego and or pride get in the way of what's actually best for you.
