When you feel the urge to pour it out, put your phone on DND and put it in a drawer or somewhere out-of-the-way. Make a hands-off policy for 2, 3, 4 hours: however long you need. Then revisit your thoughts later and see if you still find it worthy of sending.

This will also help you to correlate how often you’re thinking about him with how often he’s reaching out. If every time you revisit your phone there’s nothing from him, then you know he’s not as invested as you. Texting too often can create artificial intimacy that will skew your perceptions of relationship reality. Don’t overshare. 👑

I need this advice too.

I tend to start venting via text. Typically to either my best friend or someone I am seeing.

Only thing I found was to randomly vent to people on whisper. They don't know who you are, can't find you, will not have contact with you in any way after. I can text rant since usually it isn't THAT important.... and it is just being excited or sad or frustrated. And it's how I release pent up energy, like how some journal.

You can text like that with your gfs but it's always a bad idea with guys. If I'm in an anxious mood and tempted to overshare I force myself to put the phone down and focus completely on something else.

In the beginning, you can't go wrong by mirroring him. If the guy is a minimalist type texter I might "upbeat mirror" him with a little extra thrown in. But yeah, long emotional ranty stuff will scare men away.

I have the opposite problem, men complain I'm too short with them in text mostly 1 words or short sentence responses... They say they think I'm not interested. sigh

I'm not trying to hold full conversations with these fools! That's what calls are for or meeting up in person... 🙄

I'm the texting type and it's my way of expression. Previously, I used to do little texting to show that I'm not interested but texting for me was hardly ever for interest. I just like talking. So I just changed back to my full-mode texting. If the guy isn't conversing as much as me, I lose interest and continue talking to others. I've found men like me who LOVE communicating through texting and not say "i cAnT tExt CAuSE I hAtE being on the phone". BS. If they wanna talk to you, it doesnt matter whether it's face to face or online.
