Additionally, would you consider the following to be an example of sexual coercion? Why or why not?
- A couple are in a room alone.
- They are making out.
- He then tries to escalate to sex by touching her down there.
- She states 'no'.
- He moves back, and focuses back onto something else.
- 10 or 20 minutes pass.
- He tries again. Makeout and then touching.
- She says no again.
- Repeat once more, etc.
- She gives in and they have sex.
P.S. As a warning, some trolls may make fun of you if you list a personal experience. If you choose to do so, that is a risk. (Didn't happen to me personally but I can imagine some people are sick in the head)

Anyway groping someone's genitalia after they repeatedly said no is sexual assault. And therefore that makes it a hostile threatening and dangerous environment for the woman. Consent can't happen when you feel unsafe and assaulted. He's communicating very clearly that he doesn't care about her consent and he's perfectly fine assaulting her. Likely if she does try to get up and leave he will attack her.
Anyone who says men aren't rapists hasn't watched them debate rape.

Yeah the answers really freaked me out and I had to stop reading. The amount of mental gymnastics these men do to justify themselves for rape and/or sexual assault.
If I came onto a man and he had any sign of hesitation I would instantly stop and back off. I wouldn’t even be interested in sex anymore. And yes, this has happened to me in relationships. Sometimes your partner doesn’t want sex and that’s ok. It’s fucking scary these men have no empathy whatsoever.

It really shouldn't be this hard to grasp this concept. It really shows how strong the rape culture affects men to this day.

It’s really unfair to expect women to only be alone with men they intend to have sex with. Whatever happened to second base?! Bring back second base! And even then, that’s not going to stop a sexually predatory man because you could agree to regular sex and then he sticks it in your butt.

I had a huge fight with my ex bf for this exact reason. He told me about how one of his friends would convince girls mid-coitus to let him stick it in their butt, by insisting or asking to « put it inside for just 5 seconds » etc etc.
I told him this was sexual coercion. The scariest thing is that he tried to manipulate me using similar techniques his friends shares with him. Male sexual entitlement at its finest.

And before you choose to be alone with him, observe how he reacts when you tell him "no" in non-sexual situations. I had a man recently try to persuade me into going on a date with him (aka got pushy) after I said no. Alarm bells went off in my head.

This happened to me multiple times. He would guilt-trip me and tell me that my “no” isnt strong enough.

Strong no = never having anything to do with him again.

I think we might need to put something like this on the sidebar: if you have to say no more than once, leave. Like physically get up, end the date, go home, and cut him off.
I understand that it sounds kind of victim blamey but we need to start doing this for our own safety. Expecting men to behave like humans is too much for them: treat them like animals who have no impulse control at this point until proven otherwise.

Reading those comments made me appreciate that sub reddit is female only! It’s unbelievable!

The thread is overflowing with either full or fantasizing rapists.
