I posted this in dating over thirty channel and was shocked by many of the responses - I wanted to see what you ladies think, thanks!

Red flag?

Hi redditors,

I have a question about someone I’ve been seeing over the last 6 months, we are not exclusive given the circumstances.

Although we know each other pretty well and have seen each other many times — he’s knows my past very well that I have a physically and mentally abusive ex.

I just turned thirty and am finding a lot of men don’t like using protection, but that’s a whole other topic. I just find it interesting being newly single and in this dating world again as it pertains to this category of dating over thirty.

I’m newly separated from my abusive husband and am wary of men given my past and being with a narcissistic personality type.

So I look out for any red flags, even if I’m not looking to date seriously.

This guy stayed over my apartment in LA the other night on my other and he struggled to fall asleep.

I told him to stay and he was welcome to watch to watch Tv or do as he wanted as I was very tired and had work the next day.

Turns out I wake up at 1:30 am and he is completely gone.

The door was unlocked and there is no way to lock my door from the outside unfortunately.

I was confused and scared being I’m a young woman on my own again Los Angeles and I would have rather much preferred if he woke me up to leave because I need to lock my door.

I haven’t approached him about it yet and I found that night after I realized he was gone he sent a text saying sorry I had a really hard time falling asleep.

I was a bit disappointed and in a bit of shock to say the least and I guess he was nervous that I wouldn’t want him to leave or he would wake me, but I feel like that isn’t the point.

He broke any trust I had with him even as a friend right now and being that it just happened it is a bit of a sore topic for me right now.

Am I being too harsh and should I approach him about it? I’m contemplating letting this go and moving on- thanks!

Update— he has known about my situation up u til the day we met and the week before he left I updated him I was filling out restraining order paperwork.

I’m not looking to prove a point. I’m more so venting about the situation and believe it is odd to leave an apartment where the door is locked, unlocked in the middle of the night with a vulnerable sleeping woman inside in Los Angeles.

Update again— I never said this guy was a bad or abusive person to me or out to get me in any way. I guess it is just a little bit of a turn off me.

Thanks for all your comments.
