The problem with DD/MM/YYYY is for first 12 days in a month you don't know whether it's DD/MM/YYYY, or MM/DD/YYY. YYYY-MM-DD is the only logical choice!

A real programmer would have responded to the question with "ISO 8601". That's YYYY-MM-DD. It's the only format that sorts by date and is completely disambiguous.

If you see a date in the form 2/3/2020 does that mean February 3 or March 2? You can't tell and both month-first and day-first forms will be entered by your users and your ETL.

Figures this would be on /r/programmerhumor. Most of those kids have coded in Python for a few months and consider themselves "programmers." Any programmer worth a shit would choose the YYYYMMDD format, easy to sort and no ambiguities about order.
