I’m of two minds about this: 1. If you trust your friends, then take their word for it. Plenty of guys are dangerous, and predatory. 2. If you don’t trust your friends, there is a chance they’re just trying to “keep him to herself”. Maybe these ladies feel threatened by you and the fact that boys are interested in you.

However most HV people don’t go around adding people they never met. At least I don’t, unless they’re a local celebrity/public account. So from my perspective, I’m leaning towards option 1.

Guys go through their female friends list and friend request any girl they think is cute. Im guessing you’re cute and the friends just don’t want to share the attention (Source, I was that naive girl trying to figure out why my friends guy friends were randomly adding me, it’s just so they can message you and try to get some lol)

In my experience, there can generally be 2 kinds of people who one would follow on Snapchat that they wouldnt want their friends following:

Ex colleagues, especially working in service or retail industry. I still have a bunch of these in my snap, people I barely know, used to work with, etc. I would tell a friend to not follow them if there is no reason fir them to contact eachother, they probably just followed my friend for more Snapchat views or whatever.
Drug dealers, especially if you don't partake yourself. Drug dealers can be sketchy, obviously, though they may be buying from them through special deals or whatever reason they conjure to make them beneficial to keep around. Plenty of reasons your friend might not want you involved in their scene, if that's the case.

I suppose there could also be situations like your friend is involved with infidelity, on one side or the other, but there are plenty of reasons good and bad and none of your business why they wouldn't want you contacting these people. Best to stay away from them and let your girlfriends inform you on their own time. Asking them probably wouldn't hurt either.

I know that's not exactly what you were asking, but I wouldn't accept requests from people I don't personally know, especially if it's random, without any message explaining their reasoning. But also your friends seem to be a little bit suspicious - why she had to ask the guy why he sent you a request? If you haven't specifically asked her to do it, then it's awkward, isn't it? I feel like you don't trust your friends 100% - why is that? I bet you have reasons, maybe you'll find out there are some people you can't trust.

It’s one of many.

It could be that your friends like the attention and don’t want to share it.

Or your friends are protecting you from them, as you may be naive and they have a better understanding of the guys.

The guys could be randomly adding people through mutals because a lot of people do this.

Honestly, what do you want OP? No one can dictate what you do in your life, including your friends. If you know they mean well, then heed their advice; however it’s a bit odd that you can’t be friends with them, but they can? Start paying attention to what your friends’ true intentions are.

Edit: For clarification, guys are sleazy when they add a bunch of girls so that’s nothing new. Be careful with whom you add based on your personal judgement.

i think it's because they know they're "players" or not dateable for other reasons. you should ask for specifics, imo.

personally, i have friends like this, too. they're absolutely great as friends, but i wouldn't recommend anything beyond that.

for example, my friend S is a manchild. he is ridiculously clingy and can't see where he might have creeped someone out or done anything wrong. he hasn't done anything morally wrong, but still.

another would be my friend L. while i absolutely adore her, she does have a history of falling for someone else during her relationships and jumping from one bf to the next without a break. i wouldn't want my male friends to get with her for that reason.

or my friend J, who's a super sweet person, but has a habit of going crazy in the beginning stages. being clingy, love bombing and all that. he means well and would never try to hurt anyone, but he suffocates these poor girls.

so you see there could be a ton of reasons. they don't have to be bad people to be bad partners.
