Hi all!

I'm a lurker and I respect the opinion of you all.

Without trying to sound conceited, I have a genuine question...

There is a guy in my class that I have a crush on. It seems like we have similar conservative values (living in a liberal city this can be a rare find) and he is very masculine which I like. I think he would make a great partner.

The thing is, he's not very good looking (at first ). Now that I've gotten to know him I think he is very handsome, but when I first saw him I did not find him attractive. Over time however his personality made him very attractive to me. He's very calm in stressful situations. He is very nice and polite to everyone without being "too nice." He makes me laugh...

Now here's the thing...I want to be chased my a man. I do not think I should be the one to make the first move. But my friend tells me that "guys are dumb" (in a joking kind of way) and he probably thinks that I am too pretty for him and that he probably thinks that I am out of his league and that I should reach out to him when we finish our program (in a few months.)

I've read the book "He's Just Not That In To You" a few years ago and it explained that sometimes women tell themselves that a guy is not approaching her because he thinks she is out of his league, but the reality is that if a guy really wanted you, he would make it happen.

Part of me agrees with my friend and thinks that maybe he does think I am too pretty for him, but the other part of me is saying that if he wanted me he would do something about it. I would hate to let him get away and it makes me sad that we only have a couple more months together before we graduate. But I would feel so embarrassed if he didn't feel the same.

What do you think?

Edit: To clarify for all those helping me, I don't think I'm too good to ask him out. I've just heard that if a woman makes the first move that it emasculates him and makes her unattractive in his eyes. I thought it was more of a feminist idea to ask a man out and I don't want to come across that way.
