What is equality, really?

What’s equal about our society? Ask a black person in America if they feel equal to a white person, and they will say “NO”. But ask a white person if black people are equal to them and they will say “Yes”.

I don’t feel equal. I am not treated like an equal to a man. If I was an equal I wouldn’t have to prove myself every minute of the day as a human being that is capable of more than fucking.

When women are told sex work is empowering we are not equal. When we don’t make the same amount of money as men for the same job we aren’t equal. When it’s assumed we will leave a job because we will get married and have kids so we get passed over for men, we aren’t equal. When we get sexually assaulted by men at higher rates we aren’t equal. When we get the “how many dates will it take to fuck you” we aren’t equal. When we pay 50% of the bills, have kids, raise them, do the chores, and the man goes to work and comes home, we definitely aren’t equal.

What equality? Where? This is equality in name only, but oppression and misogyny in practice. Take your fake ass equality and shove it. I demand more and we deserve more than this.
