I went through this period of praising men who would "never cheat" on their gf or wife. I thought they were some kind of unicorn, only because I was so disturbed by all the men who shamelessly talked about how they would cheat "given the opportunity", or already cheated and have no remorse.

So of course they made the men who don't cheat but behave badly in other ways look like angels to me. Sometimes I get so caught up in my list of dealbreakers that I forget my standards.

Okay yeah, he's not NV, but he could be ZV or LV.

This would have been my life if I had not found FDS. Where I would have settled for a mediocre man who did not abuse me because the bar had been set so low by an abusive ex and father.

This is why men have to shut us down about everything we bring up about them being garbage. They know they just have to do the bare minimum. Every woman I know has said, “ Well at least he doesn’t cheat or abuse me”. Women have Stockholm syndrome

And these men are the type to get defensive in arguments and gaslight you by saying “I’m a good person! Have I ever hit you? Never!” or “I did a bad thing but stop treating me like i’m your abusive ex” or even a simple “I have never intentionally hurt you.”

But the argument started because they’re rude/lazy/inconsiderate. Like arguing over how they didn’t do their share with the laundry or they were rude to your parents or they forgot to pick you up last night and make sure you got home safely.

Men get away with the argument because they compare themselves to the abusive men out there.

What’s sad is that by actively trying to avoid abusive men and setting for mediocre, we set ourself up for the bare, if not sub-par, minimum, just to not be abused. We’re OK with them not putting in the effort, not pulling their weight, being slobbish - just because we’re not getting yelled at, mocked, intimidated, etc. it’s a real thing if you’ve had abusive men around.

They even make it easier for other abusive men. How many times have we heard, “well at least he doesn’t hit her” as some kind of excuse for emotional abuse? It’s sickening

I kinda low key hate this video because she feels the need to cater to scrotes in the opening.

Like, for real sis? You don't need to say "Obviously not all men." in your opening. You don't need to be afraid of their inevitable trolling and spend your energy trying to mitigate it.

It's just an example of how abusive men make life easier for mediocre men. We have to be careful and spare their feelings even when talking about our experiences because we know they will get offended and try to hurt us. I'm just so tired of men.
