Divorce is the ultimate lottery win for women, which does explain why women (99.9% of the time) push the idea of marriage onto men as you don't see married men going around telling other men about how wonderful marriage is.

Most men will never learn and these same men will get marred a second time, third time or even a fourth time etc.....Crazy!

I never understood why men put themselves in marriage situations, where their significant other benefits from breaking it. The only way we can stop this shit from happening is by making change in the state laws that allow women to do this. But of course, we all know that shit ain't happening soon. Best thing you can do is just not play the game and go your own way..

I have to worry about someone who is in a hurry to pay off a 2.3% loan with money from their retirement fund. The retirement fund is likely making double digits right now. 🤦‍♂️

While alimony is insanity, men shouldn't be so surprised at asset splitting. It's exactly what you sign up for when you marry. You are becoming one entity. You agree thar whatever is built, invested, earned, belongs to the joint entity you two created. The fact that most men add more than the women do financially is reality but it's also a choice. You could always marry an amateur tennis player, train her into the professional cup, and once she makes millions and has that Nike endorsement, you could breakup the union and take your half as well. The fact that most women don't help their husbands, but instead beat him to death mentally, is a different matter. But don't get mad at having to give your wife her share of the home equity, when you agreed to be a team with her that shares everything.

Tldr; don't get married.

On the post, I would recommend either a 401k loan, as you're basically just paying yourself back or just cash out some of the 401k. A lot of penalties are suspended right now because of covid, might as well take advantage of it.

Well, to answer his question a HELOC would be better than 401k due to taxes and early withdrawal penalty of 10%. Definitely take a HELOC or 2nd mortgage and then knock it out as quickly as possible.
