I threw in the towel for good today. I am a fit guy with a lot of interests and hobbies. I spent my 20s building a solid nest egg. I own a late model car that is practically new. I have my own place. I have a lot of business connections and a solid skill set, making 70k last year and secure in the fact that I could make at least 55k anywhere I go around here, given the worst case scenario. I'm not some nerd without social skills either.

I have had several online interactions/first dates go down the drain because I don't have a degree. Actually, I am finishing a bachelor's degree online right now because I need to check the HR box for interviews. These women immediately lose interest and treat me like some uneducated moron when they learn that I am only now finishing a degree.

It wasn't because I was a slacker. It was because I am practical and American universities are absurdly expensive. I spent my 20s building a skill set and working my ass off. I invested heavily. I traveled and had fun. Now the practical decision is, in fact, to finish my pud BA for the HR morons.

I'm tired of explaining real life to these uppity idiots. I value education - real education - more than most. I value learning how to think critically about truth claims. I don't give a shit about your master's in gender studies and six figures debt pile.

My ex was practical on this subject, and since we split two years ago, I have not met a single woman who wasn't a massive, condescending asshole about this.

So I guess I will continue whittling away at my degree, making my nice money, growing my investments, and driving my sweet new car in solitude. Sometimes it gets lonely, but it sure is peaceful.
