MY STBX at the time had moved out and we shared the kids 50/50. When I was not home (at work, at the gym,...) she would drive by the house and send the kids in to get things, as they had a key to the house. When I figured out what was going on, I decided to turn the alarm on and change the code. One day I was working and I got a call from the alarm company that my alarm was going on. Suddenly I get another call from my STBX. I answered and she was flamming pissed.. asking me how I could do that to my kids. Demanding I give her the code.

I hung up on her and told the alarm company to send the police. Then I laughed for 2 hours...

My ex-wife submitted a request for temporary maintenance because "He eats most of the food I buy for the house". Direct quote.

My lawyer said the office had a belly laugh at the coffee pot when that rolled in.

That didn't make me feel better, but when it got denied it did.

She ended up firing her super aggressive lawyer and finishing on her own. Could have saved a lot of money with mediation.

My ex bought me out of the house and owed me $XX,750. When I received the check from the title company it was for $XX, 570. Mind you her mom is a multi-millionaire. Not very funny, but it did make me chuckle at the time. I just shook my head.

She told me , “ and another thing; all of my friends think you’re a funny guy, a funny guy,funny, funny,funny, funny, funny, a really funny guy”. She had zero sense of humor ( she Swedish). I told her a marriage needs a sense of humor. I lost my sense of humor when she took the dough though. I will get back on my feet with a smile on my face and have laugh lines as I age, she’ll have the frown.

My funny moment (shadenfreude) came about 10 years afterwards. One issue causing our split was money (if she had one dollar she spent two) but she criticized me for being 'materialistic'. At the bottom of the great recession every bill collector known to man started calling me looking for her and/or the guy she ran away with!

She thought the judge cared about her sad made up story about how I was the most emotionless husband and forgot her bday and anneversry. Judge reminded her it's a no fault state and told her to wrap it up unless she had hard evidence I was a bad father... she got a lawyer the next day, had to reschedule alot.. ended up 5050, could have been worse.

It was funny to watch her get put in her place. Her face was priceless.
