Your argument is sound but it is a bit jarring to compare things we feel strongly about. For example someone could compare, not eating meat out of nowhere because that is something they feel strongly about. Easing into things is likely more effective as a whole. Education over abrasive tactics.

I'm not saying this because your viewpoint is incorrect, in fact it's true. As well all know.

The problem is it's not a good idea to enrage women or any minority online. Even if you're hitting them with cold facts. The internet panders to the woke crowd. And regardless of the validity of your ideas, you risk being called out, being humiliated and given this is on Facebook, even getting yourself endangered.

It's very easy to label anyone a misogynist, transphobic, homophobic, white supremacist these days and is used as a usual tactic to defend opposition. Don't get yourself in the risk. These people are not worth the rewards you risking your online reputation offers.

One of the things about trying to argue on the back of another persons argument isn't a great way. Its basically you jumping in and de-railing their entire point with something completely unreleated.

Technically true. But it immediatly turns into a pissing contest after that.

For any argument for that. You should jump on the back of it support it and say. You want abortion? Fine. Get abortion just make sure than men have some rights along with it with eg being able to finicially abort so if they choose they don't want the kid they don't have to pay child support and surrender their rights if they so choose.

Suddenly you will also find that men won't have a say in the outcome of their child. But will bear all the responsibility and consequances of their decision. Then ask them what they propse to over come that issue. At that point you suddenly have a very valid reason which isn't based around something like religon to object to their rights.

You have every right to be angry about being circumcised against your will, but that's not her fault. You're not helping raise awareness about forced male circumcision by bringing it up in very targeted and random way. If you didn't bring it up in such a weird way, I'm sure she would have agreed that forced male circumcision is wrong. If she didn't, then you can begin a great conversation, but you just weirdly jumped 5 steps.

As for your friend, she's wrong to say that men should be circumcised but this is an education issue, something which you also seem to be lacking in OP. Circumcision is done due to cultural or religious reasons, and can also be done for medical reasons (1). Anyone who thinks it's due to bacteria doesn't know that men can clean their penises even with their foreskin attached. So maybe education would help here.

This is a men's issue, absolutely and there 100%needs to be more education around it. But you ought to be taking this up with the cultures and poor education systems that enable it, not random women on the Internet.

You cannot compare the two, they're completely different one is about having a huge baby inside you (which is completely the woman's choice) and the other is having part of your most sensitive organ ripped out at birth (often times without anesthesia and without consent). MGM and forced prgnancy are a huge violation of people's right to choose and I think both are problems.

My body, my choice definitely applies to women's bodies via the choice to have sex, availability of contraception and availability of abortion if we are talking about bringing a child into the world.

However "my body, my choice" is currently incorrect as a generalisation as women: do not have choice over whether their genitals are mutilated as children (Intersex individuals don't get a choice how their genitals are modified to conform to a stereotype and don't get a choice whether they experience FGM); do get a choice whether their eggs are harvested and how they are used; do get a choice over conscription; etc.

For men "my body, my choice" is almost completely non-existent as men: do not have a choice over whether their genitals are mutilated as children (Intersex and circumcision); do not get a choice over how their sperm is used; do not get a choice over conscription; etc.

If we view the original statement as a generalisation about women's bodies, then it holds true for men as well: that is, men and women generally don't have complete "my body, my choice" rights.

If we look to specific examples, then only comparison to the same type of issue is relevant.

I'm not sure if your statement was right or wrong as it depends on the specific context of "my body, my choice" generalisation.

It does highlight to me that we don't have a universal right to bodily sovereignty (including tissues) that is only varied by consent or urgent medical intervention requirement and maybe we should, to get rid of all these discriminatory gender-specific rights that are still not comprehensive and achieve a genuine "my body, my choice" outcome.

Alright guys. Im gonna catch some flak for this, but men do have a choice when it comes to the birth of a child. If you have sex with a woman, that's your choice. There is always a chance that she could become pregnant. Always. You have made your choice to have or not have a child with her at that point. I'm not defending circumcision either. Everyone should have the ability to make choices about their bodies for themselves.
