Female probation officer sexually assaults two detained boys (aka caged children). Word "rape" never used, of course.

India executes only men since 1955. Woman hills 7 people (including children) and is sentenced to death. CNN blames patriarchy: "women who violate entrenched norms of gender behavior are more likely to receive the death penalty." If no woman has ever been executed, how do they conclude this?

New Covid19 stimulus bill has 15 women-only provisions, ZERO men-only provisions. For example, grants to help small businesses "shall prioritize awarding grants to eligible entities that are small business concerns owned controlled by women."

Gender specific approaches are only valid if they result in more aid to women. Unfortunately this is pretty standard across the globe.

Gender inequality officially only counts if females are negatively affected.

A lot of the countries mentioned in this article are the middle east and east Africa - women are second class citizens here so of course they'll be forgotten about more in prison.

These are the sort of countries where a woman would be stoned to death for adultery even if they were raped. A lot of the women in prison with children, are the result of rape so of course they'll be more prone to mental health issues. Plus not having access to sanitary products is a violation of human rights surely?

These Islamic countries have values that are beyond sexist, marrying girls off at the age of 11. Women who wear full head & body covering, this is something that started in the barbaric 9th century to protect them from getting rape if they needed to use the toilet at night, yet it's still in place. Women would even get arrested for holding hands or kissing a man in public. Everything I've said, feel free to google it.

I know a lot of men on this thread hate women so much that theyd probably prefer how women are in "their rightful place" in these backwards countries but I like to think and have spoken to a lot that just want equality for both men and women.

I love it how they support "gender-specific approaches," but also have an LBTQ section. I guess gender is not a social construct if women benefit from it.

If you read the article it doesn't say anything discriminating towards men. The article says that men are already being released and the factors are based on men allready.

Not everything is discrimination; this makes you just as bad as the rad-fems you dislike.

No, it is quite clearly a request for special concessions for women. The second sentence says: "Without a gender-specific assessment and response to coronavirus, lives of women in criminal justice systems are at risk and human rights violations will continue. " i.e. that there is no bias towards men, just a special requirement for women.

As usual with feminist thinking the fact that "There are more than 700,000 women in prison globally, compared to over 10 million men" is interpreted to generate some kind of claim that things are biased against women.

I think the point is, that globally, women make up about 7% of the prison population, compared to the other 93% of men, and the article is asking for more lenient/special treatment of women in prison.

Rad fem doesn't mean fringe feminist or extreme feminsits or the crazy man haters with red hair or ones saying kill all men, radical feminsim is itself a mainstream branch of feminism with its own set of beliefs and idealogies.

I think the article is reasonable in some senses, yes by all means consider female prisoners as a seperate group, they are after all. Also consider pregnant women etc, most certainly.

She needs to cite stuff, she states women have disprotionate underlying bad health in prison etc.... I really doubt that, but she doesnt cite anything. Corona virus changes in prison, I assume soscial distancing etc are harder on women? Again where is she getting that from? And I realy doubt it, female prisons are typically far better and less restrictive than male ones. Sounds like feminsits bullshit so far.

It does seem to lean into women most affected line and women need more protection feeding in to gender roles and gynocentrism.... the figures about x number of nigerian women being relaeased etc means little (as a marker of gender discriminatoin) unless we know the male figure to compare it to... i wouldnt be suprised if 10 nigerian women are released and she is complaining about women most affetected when 0 nigerian men were released, as pretty standard feminism 101 stats keeping. And a bit hypocrticl since she bemoans lack of gender segregtaed data yet doesnt include this in her own piece.
