We had been friends, dating other people for a couple of years, and then started hanging out as friends when those relationships broke up. It was nice because we liked the same things and we are both introverts so we had another person to attend events with. We hung out quietly and generally have a good time for about four months until our friends started asking why we weren't dating.

We both started looking at each other in a different light, but were still cautious because we really did have a very special friendship and closeness, and neither of us wanted to ruin what we had. It wasn't until Christmastime, a month or so later, that we finally kissed under the mistletoe, and are still kissing 30 years later :)

I knew he was the one when I saw how he treated my clients.

Before I quit my job to be a homemaker, I ran a group home for adults with intellectual disabilities. My clients were often treated rudely by people in the community, or treated like children by people who were trying to be nice. Most people were just afraid or uncomfortable around them and avoided my clients completely. It was depressing, the people I cared for wanted more than anything to participate in their community but were treated like lepers.

My husband didn't do that. When he came to visit me at work, he was kind to them but not insulting. He would have fun with them, but didn't put up with any of their shit either. Some of my clients were aggressive, but they knew not to give my husband any grief and never did.

One guy was trying to get his first job out in the community as a dishwasher, and my husband helped him with his resume and gave him a "mock" interview to help him prepare.

When we had our first thanksgiving together, one of my clients had no family who wanted to take him for the holiday. I mentioned to my husband (then boyfriend) that one of my clients wasn't getting to go anywhere for the holiday, so my husband told me to invite him to ours. He was positively over the moon to come to our Thanksgiving, and still brags to this day about how my husband let him help carve the meat.

My clients loved my husband, and I could see why. He was smart, hardworking and honest. He's a very kind man, but not in a fake "nice guy" type of kind. He just legitimately cares about other human beings.

He's the type of guy I want our kids to be like. Self-confident and hard working, but still humble and patient with others. He makes me better every day.

The usual stuff: I felt I could be myself around him, he saw my flaws and helped me work through them. We could lay in bed for hours cuddeling and talking whereas with others I got bored. I would say we were dating a few weeks and he said I love you and I said it too! Two years later we got engaged and a few months after that we got married.

We met at the park. I would go early before work when there was nobody there and he would go with a few friends. We were like 'who is this crazy person coming to the park so early?' and introduced ourselves. I overheard him say something funny to his friend (I wish I remember what it was) and I thought "I wanna be around this guy." They were going to eat after one day and he invited me and that's when I knew he was interested in me. Everything fell into place so easily, I think that's how I knew. It was never so easy before and when I looked back I could see how much more perfect of a match personality wise we were than anybody else I had liked before.

We have similar life goals and beliefs, plus we just "get" each other regarding humor, personality, things like that. We are both pretty introverted, so it's nice that we can just sit in a room and be together and have it be comfortable instead of awkward, like "well... what do we talk about now...?"

About 6 months into our relationship I knew. It was both terrifying and exhilarating.

It generally doesn't take me long to know what kind of person someone is, as long as I get to hang out with them in a group of people, maybe a week to have a pretty good idea and a month to be really sure. For me to consider dating a guy it just comes down to him being someone whose judgment I can really trust. I don't believe in "the one," I think there are lots of guys I could happily spend the rest of my life with.

I'm not sure if the way I went about it was the best way, but it worked, haha.

We were both living on campus and had a lot of mutual friends but hadn't met yet. When I did finally meet him, I was head over heels from the start. He took his time when speaking, observed a lot, and when he did talk it was something with value to it. He was definitely a popular guy and everyone was always knocking on his door asking him to hang, even though he didn't seek it. I think they were drawn to his attitude and demeanor also. He never clamored for attention, it was take it or leave it. I suppose he really just exhibited a lot of RP traits which I was very drawn to before I even knew what the red pill was. He was everything I wanted in a man.

I pretty much started pursuing which was another way I knew something was different about him. In high school I always refused to do that and played the shit test "hard to get" game. With my SO instead I felt like I had to show him I actually wasn't another air headed girl just wanting to ride the CC and party all the time. That's still not me.

He actually turned me down initially but a couple weeks later we started dating. We would just sit and talk, and three years later we haven't run out of things to say. In my other relationships when I was young I tried to be what I thought guys wanted. Now, I'm myself and love being there for him whenever he needs it. I learn a lot from him and though I've fucked up a lot during our marriage with how I've acted, he's still helped me be more of a RPW, because I never want him to forget how much I live and appreciate him.

It it me like a ton of bricks one day. He is smarter than I am and I respect him as a person. I had no clue what that felt like prior to this.

We met through a mutual friend. She and I went out to a local bar near the ocean to have a drink and chat and I told her "I want to date a guy that rides a motorcycle." and she pulls out her phone and says "I have the perfect guy." It took a few weeks from that point to be committed and we are going on 2 years in November.

There was some magical draw towards a complete stranger and it made my feelings weird, I couldn't understand it so naturally I was curious. Then he said "what do you want? Come back in an hour" which I did and the rest is history.

I knew I was in love with my bf from very early on in our relationship. We were close friends for 3 years before we started dating. I had this impression that he was just a crazy party guy but when we started dating I learned about this whole other side. He is a bookworm who loves physics and Pokemon. He can make anyone laugh and makes friends in the grocery store line (which always mortifies my introverted self). He stuck with me and took care of me during a very awful bout of illness after illness. Those are the things that made me fall in love with him.

I knew he was "The One" when his family invited me on their annual summer vacation even though we had only been dating a short time. They made me feel loved and included from day one and having that incredible closeness with them made me realize that I truly without a doubt could spend my forever with him. I knew we could build a full complete life together after that. I really hit the jackpot to be honest!

There was interest in him as a person. It didn't disappear after a few months.

He passed the test at that point and is still passing with flying colours today, over four years after first meeting him and three and a half years after starting dating.
