The "wage gap" was easily disproven and didnt get the desired result in their perceived pay disparity( loss of income for CHOOSING to have a child, their DECISION to have a more balanced work/life balance). So now we are on to unpaid labor/limiting distance to work so see women get less because patriarchy i guess? Funny how these empowered feminist women making their own decisions are still victims of the patriarchy.

Let me guess... They've included all the housewives (aka homemakers, home-queens) into the other 2 out of 5. Just like the gender pay gap included the income of women in all professions and then divided it by the total number of women.

When I attended college in my hometown, I walked four miles every day, four days a week- 2 miles to uni, 2 miles home, the same exact path both ways. This because I have terrible social anxiety and didn't want to take the bus or get a ride from my mother. Walking meant I had an hour and a half both ways to myself, away from her, which I never got any other way. This also gave my a good chunk of time to practice my singing, which I never did at home as I didn't want to bother my mother.

On Thursdays, since my mother worked as a volunteer at the local library bookstore, I would walk all the way from uni into town, buy lunch and snacks at the grocery store, walk to the park to stuff my face, and then head to the library to get a ride home with my mother. That's probably a whole nother 2 miles of walking. And I was fine, once my body got accustomed to it.

But sure, go ahead and complain that less than a mile is too far to commute... 🙄

I mean I dont know about the world but it is kind of true in india. Usually the families of women in india are worried about safety and want them to work not to far away, even women in my own family themselves dont feel safe working too far away. I wish I could say this isnt true but unfortunately this statement does kind of hold some truth, atleast here in india.
