Financial independence.

No addictions.

Healthy diet and works out.

People respect him and only playfully tease him. If he has a dog, the dog respects him and appears well balanced-not anxious because it does not trust his leadership or lack of.

This is surprisingly short list (and I imagine many men, including ones that I would designate as betas (personality-wise) would match). Do you nevertheless find it hard to find someone who meets these standards?

When I was in my early 20's living in Southern California (it was during the Recession) my girlfriend and I used to joke:

  • Has a car
  • Has a job
  • Has his own apartment

Pick 2.

Now that I'm a little older and wise (and the economy is better) there are a lot more men roaming about that meet those standards. But it can be difficult to find one under 25.

I was just thinking this is a short list, sadly.

I had a lot of trouble trying to find a man that matched this list, due to my limited choices in central PA while I was a full time college student as a veteran woman in her late 20s.

My fiance is now just finally getting his shit together financially and beat his weed addiction. He has the alpha personality as an NYC attorney though.

Honestly at the end of the day it comes down to treating you like an actual person instead of some bizarre fantasy.

If you are a crappy person ...Goodbye. if you are an awesome person...Relationship material.

  • Does what he says he's going to do
  • Is honest even when it's hard to hear the truth
  • Confident
  • Financially secure
  • Independent from his family (dad can't be paying for his phone bill or making payments on his car for him)
  • Realistic view on life
  • Ambitious
  • Knows what he wants/needs from a woman, and it isn't afraid to make those wants and needs crystal clear
  • Makes an effort to ensure that the relationship is high on his priority list
  • Is willing to admit he had has flaws and actively works to improve himself
  • Is unafraid to make his opinions known, but is respectful when sharing them

This is a great list.

He is in good shape and takes care of his body. He has a good job, he is independent and successful. He is confident. He is capable and manly. IMO.

Is analytical and self-critical, yet positive and curious. Is in charge of his own life and does not blame others. Makes a plan and knows what he wants. Does not waste time on unnecessary stuff. Is kind, not angry. He is the calm leader type who breaks up fights because others will listen to him. Is ambitious. Does not need to have a good job yet, can be a student, but is aiming high. If he has time he has many hobbies where he develops skills or learns new things to satisfy his curiosity.

Knows what he wants and how to get it. Has a plan. Takes responsibility. Makes internal instead of external attributions. Protective of what he loves and/or deems important.

Someone who can be both a leader as well as a follower.

He needs to know when to ask for help, and how to delegate.

Family-wise, he needs to be able to take quick decisions for small ones, but bigger decisions need a discussion of the whole family. He needs to have his entire family on one page, happily.

The way he presents himself also falls into it. I'm of a belief that usually how we look tends to say a lot about our characters. People who present themselves well and confidently are usually people who have a good self worth and are usually figured out in the head.

Adaptability, one of the most important factors. If he find himself in a situation unlike the atmosphere at home, he should be able to adapt to the place and the people present.

Someone who can accept when he's done wrong. Humility is a big factor in an alpha man.

Having good manners is a sign that one respects the people around him. While confidence is a good thing, someone who thinks he's God's gift to man can actually be a down point for relationship material, or even a turn off.

TLDR; a lot of freaking shit depending on person to person XD

He thinks and chooses. He might do what everybody else is doing, but that's a trivial matter. He thought about doing that, and he chose that for himself.

Children don't think as he does.

Confident Goal oriented Respected Independent Mentally/emotionally stable Healthy Responsible

Table stakes:

On top of his shit. Runs his life well. (How is he going to help run a family's life if he can't run his own?)

Moral compass.

Comfortable in his own skin. Dignity. So many men in their 20's are actually desperate for others' approval.

Bonus points:

Ambitious. Protective. Warm.

Dream man/exemplar - Booth, from Bones.

Capable of working hard to protect and provide. Has initiative in working towards his goals. Healthy and takes care of himself. Cherishes his wife/girlfriend. Sees through most of the bullsh*t of the bluepill society and faces up to reality. :)

Cherishes his wife/girlfriend

When it is earned

[–]ThatStepfordGalEndorsed Contributor1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She has to respect him first of course!

[–]fetchyminx1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Someone who is loyal and mentally stable for starters.

[–]8017350 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The way I see it the options go somewhat like this:

  1. handsome

  2. single

  3. mentally stable

Pick 2.
