At least the males took it all the way to court, whereas just a few years ago they would have been prevented from doing so. The case may make females more careful how they treat male colleagues in future.

Court did its best to find a loophole to prevent her from getting convicted. Reverse the gender, court will find whatever workarounds to make sure the man doesn't walk free.

I don't know how to feel about this one.

On one hand I'm angry because I'm like 90% certain this would have gone differently with reversed genders.

On the other hand, I don't have all the details and the "implied consent" makes sense in the context it was presented. If it didn't make sense then activities like wrestling with buddies wouldn't be viable.

I suppose I would have been more happy if they simply stuck with the "no evidence" defense rather than trying to excuse the behavior that supposedly couldn't even be proved to have occurred.

The Australian civil courts are also infected with such discrimination and bias. As usual the magistrate was a woman, so no real surprise at the outcome. Of course if the male had been the offender then he would be found guilty, certainly discharged from the RAN.
