And if you can live in the Handmaid's Tale you're a privileged female there, because that story has most of the men dead, and the rest sent off to war to die. But of course just as in real life the feminists compare the lowliest woman with the best treated male in that fictional society and say "sexism". The reality is the "Handmaid's Tale" world treats women better than it treats men.

The Handmaids Tale is disturbingly transparent victim fetish porn and I get why it's popular with a segment of the population prone to this kind of thing.

What I don't get is how people can watch the show, and miss 90% of it.

What they see is "women are oppressed". They don't seem to see that it's a Totalitarian Theocracy government and EVERYONE is oppressed by those in power, and many of the oppressors are women.

Did they miss that when the Handmaids are being raped, they're being held down by women? They are disciplined by women, daily life and imprisonment overseen by women.

Did they miss that nearly every episode features men being summarily executed, shot in the head, hung and left to rot...women who transgress, even seriously, are not killed but at worst sent to "the colonies".

Hell the Commander's wife Serena literally commits treason, and is punished with a spanking.

The overwhelming theme is none of these people are happy with the state of affairs, they're all victimized by the Theocracy but somehow people seem to see only how it affects the women...and only a small number of them.
