This isn't a "body shaming" case. It's about publicly posting nudes, taken in private, of someone without their consent.

Her mocking comments have nothing to do with why she's in trouble. Her failure to understand privacy law is.

[–]KaleBrecht 423 points424 points425 points 8 years ago (36 children) | Copy Link

And she only felt bad about it once the legal ramifications and social outrage became overt. What a complete piece of shit.

“This isn’t who I am...”

Yes it is

[–]pencilpusher13 66 points67 points68 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I have a sneaky feeling this wasn't her only rude snap chat either. I wouldn't be surprised if this is something she did regularly.

[–]1Darkest_Knight1 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

oh for sure. Someone that thinks this is something that's okay to do has likely done it before. What a complete piece of shit.

[–]Beashi 31 points32 points33 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Why do these assholes say “this isn’t who I am” after getting caught or called out for their assholery? There is nothing they can say that is less believable than that. Hearing that also reminds me of that racist couple who drove around town with automatic weapons terrorizing kids during a birthday party. I can’t stand these pieces of shit.

Shotgun, not automatic weapons. My bad.

Edit: during their sentencing hearing, she gave her little speech and said that “this isn’t who I am” crap

Reminds me of the time I shared a Google doc with open editing. Felt bad for the guy who had to explain some assist ruined community work by deleting all text and replacing it with racial slurs. I don't feel bad about this asshat calling it out publically after I apologized and reported the editor to Google for the crime getting banned from that forum.

[–]TheBlueberryPirate 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

But you can just revert to a previous edit in Google docs if someone makes a bad edit.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well, I did revert it back, copied contents to the wip doc and edited the original link to point to it. I kept 2 copies of it and another one. 1 for updating and formatting, then the live version.

[–]TheBlueberryPirate 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It sucks that he caused you so much hassle

[–]ziggmuff 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Seriously.

Uhhhhh, hunny...you did that thing. Unprovoked. On your own. That means that IS who you are.

I murder a guy, but being a murderer? Nah, that's not me.

These dumb sluts are unreal.

[–]Mode1961 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My response would be "Then who that fuck was it, it sure seems like it was you".

[–]nobodyyoullremember 71 points72 points73 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

once the legal ramifications and social outrage became overt

So basically Logan Paul and YouTube stepping in.

Among other examples I can’t recall at the moment. But basically people and especially companies only step in/apologise once their actions are put into the limelight.

Also you confuse sincere regret with salvaging ones career/reputation.

[+]Nonce-Victim -70 points-69 points-68 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

To be fair, I suspect if you (as in you personally) were in trouble, and feigning remorse would possibly get you out of trouble, I expect you would do it. I would too.

I have some sympathy for this woman, in that I think she did something without fully thinking through the implications. I don't think she intentionally intended to humiliate or degrade that particular individual.

However lets be honest, the reason this is on PPD is because it's full of people who have probably been mocked by similarly attractive women in the past.

[–]dtabitt 19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have some sympathy for this woman

Then fuck you too!

in that I think she did something without fully thinking through the implications.

Bull fucking shit. If someone did the same to her, she'd have raised hell. You don't take photos, let alone naked ones, of people in a fucking locker room. That's bottom of the barrel vile.

[–]primewell 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The entire purpose of her snap was to mock and degrade the subject of the picture. That was the whole point of the post, the ONLY point.

[–]dtabitt 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You forget the to violate the woman's privacy part too.

[–]Ame622 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wait, someone who's career choice was being photographed naked is shallow and stupid? whoda thunkit

[–]Ill_Pack_A_Llama 23 points24 points25 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

She lives a comfortable life that doesn’t force her to think or learn by displaying her vagina so no, she doesn’t know shit .

[+]umeronuno -24 points-23 points-22 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

How does one "think or learn by displaying their vagina"? I don't have one, so I guess I need some help in that department...

[–]odel555q 25 points26 points27 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Displaying her vagina allows her to live a comfortable life which doesn't force her to think or learn.

[–]tslime 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She could hold a book open with her legs

[–]ziggmuff 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think you're confused. What you repeated isn't what was said at all.

Poor thing.

[–]Penetrator_Gator 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Either people feel sorry because they realize that it is bad or because they where caught.

[–]imakesawdust 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Usually the latter.

[–]Penetrator_Gator 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The timing of the apology is a god indication

[+][deleted] -7 points-6 points-5 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

[–]ihateeveryoneonthisp1 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link

I actually think this is one of few times ‘body shaming’ is accurate. A lot of times it’s thrown around by morbidly obese women who get rejected. This time, an elderly women is being photographed naked to be mocked on social media for having a standard old lady body.

And good for her, too, she’s in her 70s and at the gym. Dani Mathers burns most of her calories sucking dick, she’s got a weird face, and her body wouldn’t be nearly as appealing without the fake tits. The old duck at least has the dignity to not be a paid whore.

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points33 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

“Burns most of her calories sucking dick.”

Can we be friends? That burn is amazing.

[–]bobbyvale 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm kind hoping she gets some of that jail time instead of the fine. But we know she'll get the fine at best. Even a few weekends would likely teach her a lesson. The fine likely not. Though I suppose the publicity has taught her not to publicly do this. Likely also impacted her career.

[–]DaysforDays 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's astounding how you can think posting someone else's nudes will put you above the law. "News flash." It wont.

[–]nicodiumus 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What makes it worse is that this could be someone's mother or grand mother. She fails to understand that she will get old and her body will get in the same shape. The lady was there to maintain her health, and this stupid woman-child possibly ruined that for her. I hope she is made an example of via the legal system. Gyms are no longer meant to be meat markets, or places to find a hook up.

[+]sindrone7 -8 points-7 points-6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]tinyflemingo 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Allthehigherground 474 points475 points476 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I'm just annoyed that this is being called a "body shaming case" because she's not being charged with "body shaming". She's being charged with photographing a naked person and then distributing the photo to millions of people. Stupid ass media headlines.

[–]IolaBoylen 75 points76 points77 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I think the media calls it that because if it had been a fit naked woman instead of an overweight naked woman, she wouldn’t have taken the picture and mocked the lady, and therefore wouldn’t be in this mess. But you’re correct that it is an inaccurate description of why she is in trouble legally. “Body shaming” sounds more trendy and click-baity.

[–]KillNyetheSilenceGuy 59 points60 points61 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

If a man had taken and distributed naked pictures of a woman in a locker room shower, we would be talking about what a disgusting vioation of privacy it is and not "body shaming"

[–]whitecj2ow -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well intent is important, legally speaking. Hence the separation and subsequent punishment of 1st and 2nd degree murder. Maybe not on these particular charges but a man taking the pics would be for perverse reasons and this particular case it is body shaming.

[–]KillNyetheSilenceGuy 17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But neither being a "pervert" nor "bodyshaming" is, or should be, illegal. What is illegal is taking pictures of people in locker rooms without their consent.

This is so old she already had her trial and got like 250 hours of community service and has completed it.

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points24 points 8 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

My problem with community service, especially around celebrity, is it's simply unpaid work doing what they already do, i.e. "Hey normally you get paid $20K to go speak at a high school, instead you get to go speak at the same high school for free and don't forget to count 40 hours as prep/research time" or "Hey you get to fly to Hawaii on our dime and perform for free USO show for the military".

Whereas us poor folk don't get "Hey you to do your same job but for free", we get "go clean up trash / wipe old peoples asses / etc".

Always felt they should just get rid of community service period. Either jail them or fine them and fines should be pro-rated based on wealth in the same way Switzerland (or Austria, I forget) does speeding tickets, it's "X percentage of your total wealth (not income)" as opposed to "X dollars" because they were having issues with the super rich flouting traffic laws because WTF do they care about a $500 ticket.

Rabble rabble rabble!!

[–]Caoimhi 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

So it's not a ppd, because if a guy took a nude picture of a girl in a locker room and posted it online they would throw his ass under the jail. This is a combination of being rich and a woman she got off with a slap on the wrist, this whole thing is just a shameful miscarriage of justice.

[–]hottschott 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

“If a guy took a picture of an older guy” would be a more accurate comparison, and no, the judge and DA made it clear publicly that they were going to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. This isn’t a PPD, at all. It’s fair justice.

[–]WRXminion 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

If she was charged under Penal Code § 647(j)(4) she should have spent 6 months in jail and paid a fine of 1k. "Full extent of the law." My ass....

[–]hottschott -4 points-3 points-2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. You think all misdemeanors (up to one year in jail) are served in jail? Hell no.

[–]WRXminion 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

K.... You obviously don't know what "full extent of the law" means; here is an example of them 'throwing the book' at someone who didn't have the means to fight it.

[–]WRXminion 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm glad you liked it. If you found that story cool you might also find Reiman's book the rich get richer the poor get prison cool. it goes more in depth in the disparity in our legal system.

Edit: added google books link.

[–]farkenell -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

careful, just like the guy above making false assumptions.

even if this were the case, would it be because he's a male? or cause he's got a shit lawyer.

[–]Caoimhi 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Your right this is not accurately a pp, this is a rich pass. I'm not saying that having a pussy didn't help her, but the deciding factor was for sure the $10,000/hr lawyer. To be fair she probably wouldn't have been in this situation to start with if she didn't have 500,000 snap chat followers, which the money and fame definitely had something to do with. I still hold that an average woman would fair way better in the this situation than your average man, but this probably isn't a great example of that.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Fair enough and surprising though would love to see some proof on that.

[–]hottschott 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I just provided you the link. She slacked in completing it and was facing jail time so then she kicked it into gear and completed it. She paid her debt to society which was deemed appropriate by a judge.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I read the link but nowhere did I see in that what you said (though I'm not disagreeing with you, might have been a different link).

Also I'm not disagreeing with you on a legal front but that isn't the same thing as justice especially when you have sympathetic judges, i.e. in PRACTICE her graffiti removal could have been "Sitting at a park relaxing while occasionally spraying off sidewalk chalk in a upper middle class area".

I have a lawyer buddy for example that recently was directed to complete community service which involved litter clean up. He was put into a special group of other high society offenders who all, under the watchful eye of law, had a beach BBQ every Saturday and duly picked up their own garbage afterwards; it counted as 4 hours of litter cleanup afterall, they picked up some litter and were there 4 hours lol. And then did this every week until it was served.

I myself did community service a couple years back, a local hospital signed off me to do data entry where I literally typed for 30 minutes and then slept and played video games for another 7.5 hours in the janitor closet.

[–]sparkyjay23 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

well then someone has a time machine. 17 days ago...

After getting a warning from the court, Playboy Playmate Dani Mathers stepped up her community service game and will avoid spending any time in jail for her body-shaming conviction.
Mathers, 30, was convicted last year for taking a photo of a nude 71-year-old woman and posting it online with a mocking comment. She was offered either 45 days in jail or 30 days of graffiti removal, and she chose the latter.

Hey guys!!! Soooo Instagram has changed their algorithm AGAIN making it harder and harder for you to see the pages and posts that you want to... Like mine😉 Here are 3 simple things that you can do to make sure you don't miss me!

  1. Find my profile!
  2. TURN ON POST NOTIFICATIONS
  3. Like AND comment on at least 10 photos/videos to show @instagram that you're interested in my content, or whoever else's you are interested in seeing daily!

I'll be deleting all inactive accounts so you have one more chance to see my posts! Thank you all for the endless Love and support! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜❤️🧡💛💚💙💜❤️🧡💛💚💙💜❤️🧡💛💚💙💜❤️🧡💛

Looks like she's really grown from this experience and moved on a a mature adult...

[–]flylikeIdo 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Mean bitch deserves it. Hope they drop the hammer on her for being a mean cunt.

I wish articles would do away with bullshit phrases like "Body shaming" and call it what it is : Nude pictures taken of a person in private. Which is a lot more severe than simply making fun of someone's body.

[–]dtabitt 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I want this cunt to do 10+ years for this. Fuck her. Fuck her cold for this. If anyone did this type of shit to her, you KNOW she'd be screaming up a storm to have the book thrown at them.

And then there's the bigger issue - WHAT IN THE UNHOLY FUCK MADE YOU THINK IT WAS OK TO TAKE A PICTURE OF A NAKED PERSON WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT IN A FUCKING LOCKER ROOM!!!!!

I seriously have issues with how utterly stupid what this woman did. It's just so fucking vile. So fucking evil. And because of her status, that makes it all the worse to me and that's why I want the worst to happen to her over this.

[–]Firm_as_red_clay -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m sorry but that mouth makes her look like the thing the gremlins turn into when they get wet.

[–]achmedclaus 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good. She fucked up bad and needs to face the consequences of it

[–]MMMJiffyPop 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She is just awful. She needs to pay.

"In November, Mathers was charged with one count of invasion of privacy, which carries a sentence of up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine."

She's being charged because she both photographed and posted a naked pic of someone without their consent. This case is much more about that than body-shaming, so why is there always such a heavy emphasis on the body-shaming?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

lol. "Body shaming". If I'd have done this it would be a pervert/sexual assault case.

[–]Rationalbacon 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

but remember "That's not who she is" so case closed right? right?

[–]jb_in_jpn 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is a freakishly big mouth.

[–]estusdew 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are we going to sacrifice this woman already? Reddit seems okay with it.

[–]Nonce-Victim 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As a PPD user, my outrage is entirely about privacy law and uh...privacy, internet privacy.

It has NOTHING to do with me having had my appearance mocked by similarly attractive women in the past and wanting to get my revenge on this one.

[–]tuiznew 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

At least she can fall back on a porn career.

[–]irawoody1 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Tgunner192 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She's to be done trying to fight it and plead.

[–]killkount 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]KitchenBomber -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Every post to this sub proves that the privilege you've come here to complain about doesn't exist. Maybe you all need new hobbies.

[+]joyco661 points 8 years ago [recovered] (9 children) | Copy Link

She has beautiful tits though.

[+]jeegte12 -13 points-12 points-11 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

body shaming isn't illegal.

[–]idwthis 18 points19 points20 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

But taking nude photos of someone and posting them online without their consent is.

[–]jeegte12 -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

then why does the title call it a body-shaming case if it clearly is actually a privacy case?

[–]idwthis -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You never encountered a click bait title before?

[–]jeegte12 -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You're right, we should just accept bad things about the world and never mention them.

[–]idwthis 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That isn't what I said at all.

[–]jeegte12 -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then why did you say that it's clickbait? What else would you be indicating with that comment?

[–]stex5150 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No? but taking nude pictures of someone then posting it to the internet without their permission certainly is. How would you feel about nude pictures of your mom or grandmother on the internet?

[–]jeegte12 -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i wouldn't like it. i'm also not talking about that. i'm talking about body shaming.

[–]gorgonzolathief -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Is this a denial of her pussy pass simply because she has a pussy? I don’t see how she tried to use it to get out of the situation. It just seems like a case of a terrible person facing consequences for doing a terrible thing.

[–]Bojarzin 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

well considering this subreddit has just become "stupid women get in trouble", it doesn't really matter
